in the country of the blind

As I recently noted over at nayad’s place, I have a long list of repeating nightmares. One common recurring theme is ‘bits of me that break’ - most commonly teeth breaking or falling out, hair being cut or falling out, or contacts shattering either in my hand or in my eye ( Read more... )

I'm glad they were able to get you a replacement so quickly. I also used to wear rigid lenses but have been able to switch over to disposable "toric" lenses. After reading this, if I still were using rigid, I might have been tempted to give them up in favor of glasses. (which I wear a lot of the time anyway because I like my glasses)

I'm sorry you had such a harrowing couple of days what with this and the other stuff.

Thanks. This is looking like the easier of the two. :P

Also, glasses are not really an option for me, either. This is half physical limitation (complex) and half vanity (I want my eyes to appear larger than baby English peas).

I just had an amusing idea. I could photoshop a fairly accurate self-portrait of Karawynn-with-glasses, since people can't generally imagine how extreme it really is. Might be entertaining and/or enlightening.

I'm so used to you without glasses, it's hard to imagine what you'd be like with them. I actually see better with contact lenses, but it is harder for me to read small print. (granted, that's only when I'm in low light so...)

Let's see a picture of you in glasses!

I've always been the exception to Dorothy Parker's adage: "Men don't make passes at girls who wear glasses."

I haven't owned a pair of glasses since I was in high school (even then there was no point to it) so it will have to be a photoshop construction. But I will show you what -15 diopters does to a face, and you will see that dear Dorothy was right after all ...
