So, in a sneaky sort of way, I found out where I'm going in Japan. Bobby got an email from his predecessor, who mentioned that I would be in Kasaoka
http://www.city.kasaoka.okayama.jp/english/ and Bobby would be in Tamashima
http://www.city.kurashiki.okayama.jp/kyosido/hiring/kurashiki_intro/tamashima.html. The towns are 15-20 mins apart by train (train station is a ten-minute cycle ride from Bobby's house). So, we can live together! The commute might get a little annoying for me but it's nothing I can't handle.
We also got info on the HOUSE that we will be living in. Here's what his predecessor said:
"The house here (which is traditional Japanese style with tatami mats and sliding wood and paper doors) is a good choice. It is really big with two spare bedrooms upstairs as well as the bedroom downstairs. It has a kitchen, dining room, living room and another room that has no particular use but could be used as an extra bedroom if you are planning on having lots of visitors at the same time! This is really unusual as most JETs are given small apartments in a tower block and I believe this is the case in Kasaoka."
So, that sounds good. I posted on the JET forum that we have a house in Tamashima and asked if the housing in Kasaoka (a cooler city) would be better. Here's what someone said:
"You're not going to believe how nice your boyfriend's place in tamashima is. It's a mansion."
So, I think that a half-hour commute every morning and evening will be worth living in an amazing house! Also, I have plenty of space for everyone to come to visit!
