i'm a big spender, a "baller", if you will

(Warning: this is gonna be a long one)
First of all, did anyone notice i changed my icon karate girl to have brown hair (instead of purple) and a black belt (instead of purple)??? Come on people... be more observant.... ;) hehe

Um lets see.. whats been goin on with me.

The school year finished out.. finally! it was possibly the roughest semester (academic wise) yet in my college career. Been gettin some grades back.. didnt do as well as i had hoped to, but it was overall acceptable. And i'm pretty sure i'll be able to from here on out get a lot of amazing grades, given my light work loads and few online courses i've got coming up (wich hopefully'll be a breeze).

The whole internship in indiana thing... mm in a nutshell... they were interviewing around 100 people or so, 15 spots to fill.... I pretty much blew them out of the water during the interview (dont mean to sound cocky, but i know i interviewed extremely well) and they offered me a job on the spot. I ended up taking it, but in the end it didnt work out (for a few reasons, dont really feel like getting into them). So, I'm not going. I'll be here in michigan all summer.

I spent all day yesterday (litearlly like 4 hours straight) scrambling to find any available internships that have to do with advertising. I literally googled "advertising internships in the detroit area" and any advertising companies or anything related I put in a phone call and inquired about available and/or still open spots. Most places didnt answer and I left a message, or they were already filled. FINALLY I had some luck and scored an interview with a company called 4D Marketing & Associates Inc. tomorrow (wednesday) at 3:45. They sound like a pretty small company cuz apparently i'm going to be interviewing with the CEO. Suprisingly I'm not that nervous. I think its a combination of the confidence I gained in result of the success I had in the previous interview and the fact that I at this point feel like, if I get one, great, if i dont, I dont, and I'm not going to freak out about this. Or maybe its the friking awesome new suit I went and bought today at somerset to ensure my victory tomorrow ;) bling bling.

So... since I'm going to be in the detroit area... all of the shit I had planned is back on i supose. That would include, but not be limited to... concerts (namely rascal flatts and any other country concerts i'll be attending, probably at DTE), tigers games with stacey, camping with friends and family, up north with friends and family, working out, cooking (see paragraph below), cedar point, karate monday and wednesdays, weddings, and hopefully an internship. Ooo then theres also my online course. Hopefully an easy 4.0.

I decided that I should start cooking. I've always been interested in cooking (I watch the food network constantly), i've watched/helped my mom cook in the past, but i've never really taken charge, and cooked in a seroius way. I'm going to be on my own, or with a significant other in the next X number of years and i feel like i need to take a serious step to being able to cook for me and the other person. Bottom line, I want to be a wife that knows how to cook, and cook well. My mom and I own 3 or 4 books by a chef named Rachel Ray we are a fan of. Shes always got "delicious and healthful meals" on her show, so i figure shes a good one to start trying to cook like. So, the culinary endeavor began yesterday. I made these AMAZING burgers yesterday. It was ground sirloin with some garlic, onion, grill seasoning, worschesheir sauce, hot sauce, brown sugar.. and some other stuff mixed in... then i threw 'em on the grill (even turned them 90 degrees half way through cooking to get those criss cross grill marks), melted some cheese on top. MUAH. possibly the juiciest, most tasty, flavorful burgers i've ever tasted in my life. Went great with some red wine. Then today I made this awesome chicken lime avacado salad. Soooo good. My parents were super impressed. Went really well with a crusty baguette, fruit, and some red wine. :-D. I'm off to a good start. We'll see what the next meal brings... I'll let you know.

Now the topic everyone has been waiting for... VEGAS!!!!!!!!!! instead of takin you through my trip in chronological order.. i'm just gonna give a few specific things their own paragrph and elaborate on them.

Paris Hotel: this is where me, my mom, dad, bro and sis in law stayed. SOOOO nice. So nice. The whole hotel is decked out as a replica to walking down the streets of Paris. There are bakeries, with croissants, and breads, and pastries... oh man. So great. And theres a replication of the eiffel tower (wich is magnificient) and it actually is built into the hotel! Its hard to explain but its just cool loking. And the rooms were really nice and fancy. They have a VERY famous and excellent buffet there. It was VERY pricey (i think like 27 bucks a person) however, it honestly was worth every single penny. Absolutely the best food, and for sure best buffet i've ever had. Every possible food you could ever think of/want, under the sun.. and the best quality of that food as well. And the desserts.. oh man. Unreal.

The Aladdin Hotel (this ones for you mucci): the aladdin hotel is currently under construction.. i beleive they're turning it into a planet hollywood or something... but.... my family and i ate at the buffet there for breakfast one morning. ABSOLUTELY amazing. VERY comparable to the paris hotel one. Not quite as good, but it was super super good. They had everything from mexican, to american, to breakfast foods, to beef, to an amazing dessert table. I HIGHLY recomend this buffet. Really good. AND if you get the buffet the mamosas are included.. and make sure you get one. They mix a great mamosa :)

The Bellagio Hotel: This is a MUST stop. You walk into the bellagio and there are a few things you need to stop and see before going into the casino area. There is a chocolate shop. In the front of the shop, behind glass, there is a CHOCOLATE FOUNTAIN. Literally, from the ceiling, there are a series of about 6 or so bowls that are flowing with dark, milk, and white chocolate, from the ceiling down to the floor. Again sort of hard to explain.. you just have to see it. Then you walk into the store and there are pastries, cakes, candies, etc... that just.. if you dont get one to eat, are candy for the eye like you woudlnt beleive. If you walk out of the chocolate shop and keep going you'll walk into this huge room that currently is a garden. Apparnetly throughout the year they change it (like for example when my parents went to vegas last year they said the room was filled with guards and pumpkins.. huge pumpkins, that weighed dozens of pounds each). But anyway.. the room this year was one huuuuge garden. It was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. There are sculptures of oversides flowers, butterflies, frogs, and herons. Its literally like.. a tropical forest of every single flower you can imagine.. bursting with the most amazing, fresh, beautiful colors.. and the SMELL in the place was just... the sweetest natural perfume ever. Honestly words dont even justify this... but lets just say the thing that kept going through my mind was "oh my god i wanna get married RIGHT HERE.. it would be the most absolutely beautiful wedding ever..." You gotta check it out.

Caeser's Palace: Even if you dont go inside to see the AMAZING structures and sculptures inside, you gotta just get close to it on the outside. Its literally a architectural work of art. Its MASSIVE and just... an amazing structure.

New York, New York: This is definately a place to go when you're with a group of younger people your age. Its very crowded, and pretty much, a party scene. There was a live band playing, lots of bars/clubs, and again mostly people my age and up to probably 30 somethings. This is defiantely the place i'd go back to with a group of friends and party it up hardcore. And the whole, resemblance to the actual new york city, inside and out, REALLY cool. Oh also.. theres a chinese resturant in there... and it was soo good. We ordered 4 dishes between six of us and just put them in the middle of the table and took some of each.. it was defiantely comparable to a... PF Chang's i'd say.

The dancing fountains: I beleive this is in front of the Bellagio... might of been Ceasars but almost positive its bellagio. There is a HUUUGE fountain.. well really like a huge pool that turns into a fountain. I beleive its every half hour, music plays, and the fountain litearlly, shoots off water to the rhythm of the music, as if its dancing to it. Its REALLY cool! Really romantic. And i beleive it has lights that go along with it.. and thats best viewed during the evening. You gotta stop and check that out.

The strip in general: get in the car and drive up and down the strip at least once... and definately at night. Vegas is great during the day.. but it REALLy comes to life and is just, spectacular at night with all the lights. Get in the car, and just, drive up and down, and see everything. Even if you dont stop, get out, and go inside.. just drive up and down and make sure you visually see it all.

craps: This was my game, so i have to give it its own paragraph. I didnt really know how to play it before this trip. I always tried to understand it, but I never really got it. I knew you shot the dice, you sometimes wnated to get a 7, you put bets on different places on the table. But i didnt really fully get it. Well starting right when we got there on thursday, the first place we went to, Hard Rock, I got my first experience with craps. I learned the basics. Played a few times. Wasnt too successful. HAd some bad rolls. Wasnt too daring in my betting. But as the trip went on... I mostly played slots (penny slots... put in a 20 dollar bill.. you're playing for HOURS.. soo fun!).. and craps when i was feeling lucky/dangerous. Most places table are 10 dollar minimum bets.. and thats kinda cheap. A lot of them are like.. 15, 20, 25 minimum bets.. but you've gotta weed out the cheaper tables.. look at signs out side of the casinos. Usually the cheaper tables will advertise it outside to draw in people. And beelive me, when we'd see "five dollar craps and blackjack tables" outside a casino we'd FLOCK. But anyway.... we one time found this place that had DOLLAR CRAPS tables!!! it was the Westin i beleive? happy hour prices.. mon-thurs until 9pm or something.. well that was SUCH a good way to really get into craps and be able to experiment with what numbers to bet on and what to put money on.. because it was only a dollar per bet... instead of five or ten... so i got a little adventurous. That was the first place I really got going in the right direction.. I think i walked away from that table with a 40 dollar profit. After that I didnt play on anything more than five dollar tables.. I had the confidence to be the shooter, to put bets on the table other than just the pass line (five and ten are my numbers)... I would get into it and cheer for the shooter.. high five's around the table.. etc etc. It was soo fun! and I also got smart about it and figured out when to leave the table (whether it was because the table was cold, or i was up X amount of dollars and figured out the self control to decide to keep my winnings and move on). We went to one casino that was probably about 20 minutes off the strip.. called... Red Rio... something.. i dont know.. but.. i started playin craps and I was up probably about 20 bucks when i pulled out of the table.. then decided to get back in and suddenly, the luck turned. The shooter got SUPER hot and just rolled, and rolled and rolled and rolled, and suddenly I was up, not just hwat i had total, but I was UP 60 something dollars. He crapped out and i pulled out of the table, went to the cashier and cashed out my money. Started with 30 something, cashed out around 100.... not bad.

I played blackjack, once. Well, one sitting, 4 or 5 hands, and got SUPER lucky. It was a five dollar table and i ended up makin a profit of about 30, then got up. At that same place (Tropicana Hotel/casino), I went over to the 5 dollar craps table, and proceeded to make about 40 bucks. So much fun.

But the night I HAVE to expand upon a little is the last night I was there. Saturday night. By 1:30am (vegas time, 4:30am our time), everyone had gone to bed except me and my two cousins. We walked all the way down to the Tropicana Hotel/casino. They were lookin for 5 dollar black jack tables, and I was lookin for my five dollar craps tables. Tropicana had already raised their prices to ten dollar minimums, so we jumped on the bus (called The Deuce, its a double decker bus), and wetn down to circus circus. Definately a mroe low class place, but for that reason we figured it would be cheap. And we were right. We walked in about 3am and my cousins found a five dollar black jack table to play at and i picked out a five dollar craps table. I confidently just went right up to it, wedged myself in between two people at the table, and cashed in 40 dollars. For a while the dice stayed on the other side of the table and i was up 20, down 10, up 30, down 20.. etc. Finally the dice came around to me.. and i was up probably about 20 or 30, so at 60 or 70 total from starting at 40. I looked at the people around me (about four on my side of the table) and said "i honestly woudlnt bet on me.. i'm not a very good roller". they laughed and said go for it, we're sure you'll do fine. I was SOOO nervous... SO nervous.. that second throw.. i litearlly threw them COMPLETELY OFF THE TABLE. didnt even hit the table at all. Just flew from my side, off. Everyone started laughing and I laughed at myself and said "tahts me being super super nervous." the two guys to the rigth of my said no no its fine! you're doing great keep going. So... I kept going.. and i proceeded to have the craps throw/streak of a lifetime. I usually crapped out after about one or two turns. I rolled that dice probably... at least 20 times.. probably more. I kept rolling seven after seven after seven.... it was absolutely unreal. There were a total of about 8 or 9 people makin bets on my rolls.. and eventualy every one started realizing how well i was throwing.. and people started making more and more money.. and everyone started screaming!! and cheering!! and everyone found out my name and were cheering my name!! and high fives all around the table!!.. they cahnged dealers half way through and brought in the night manager to keep an eye on me.. i guess they thought my rolling was gettin a bit suspicious b/c it was such a long streak. This guy to the right of me had 56 dollars on me rolling a six.. and one turn i rolled about 3 six's in a row.. he leaned over and said "you made me about 200 bucks on that one turn alone"... it was absolutely insane. Seven, after seven after seven... everyone was cheering. A crowd formed around the table to see what the fuss was. I'd pick up the dice and get ready to roll, and the whole table was screaming and cheering for me.. it was just... so incredible. What an amazing experience. Half way through my rolls i finished my miller lite and someone at the table was like "she needs another beer.. someone get her another beer!!!" and soon enough i had another miller lite in my hand. I literally made taht table thousands of dollars. It was soo much fun! Someone tossed me a 25 dollar tip for rolling so well. Someone was every once in a while throwing down more money on my bets so it would double my personal bet so i would win more. Finallllly, when i crapped out, and the dice got passed.... every cheered, there was a round of applause. It was awesome. I had started with 40.. and i at that point had 189 in chips. It was 5:30am.. and all of those factors pointed to.. time to cash out. My cousins were ready to go as well after being raped by the black jack tables. So, I bid farewell to my table and cashed out. I was on top of the world. When my cousin took me back to my hotel, it was light outside!!!!!!! haha. I got to sleep at 6am.. and got woken up an hour later at 7am to shower and pack.. then we were off to the airport by 8:30.

And i commend anyone whos actually read all this... but yah WHAT A TRIP... i could write SO much more.. but i'm tired.. need to get some sleep for my interview tomorrow... 'night everyone!!! wish me luck!!!
