Almost Monday
1. Yeah Leverage tonight! Boo work tomorrow.
2. Oh, no, wait, I get stitches out tomorrow. So only a half day work. And I'll probably 'not feel well enough to finish the afternoon' either.
3. Is it weird that I love the taste of evaporated milk? I'm not saying I drink it by the glass. But if I'm cooking with it, I always have to take a little sip. And I always have to have it on oatmeal. I literally cannot eat oatmeal without it. Speaking of cooking, I'm trying my hand at meatloaf tonight. We'll see how that goes.
Also speaking of cooking, it's my parents 30th anniversary next month and they're having a party. I said I'd bake them a giant cookie and decorate it. I don't have a huge amount of experience with that, though, so now I'm trying to figure out the best way to do it. I want to do something fairly elaborate, so my instinct is to draw it all out first, then maybe make a stencil with wax paper and transfer it with food coloring and pipe over the lines with frosting. But stencils, at least when I use them, rarely turn out perfect, so I'm wondering, if after I do the piping and it dries and hardens, if there's food coloring smudges can I go back and flood the spaces between the piped lines with a different color of runny frosting? I mean, I know usually you put a base coat down and then pipe over it, but I keep thinking I'm probably going to have mistakes I want to cover.
Maybe I'll just have to make some trial cookies that are normal sized so I can experiment. But if anyone has experience decorating cookies and wants to share, feel free.
