Day 01- A show that never should have been canceled
I was really torn between Firefly and Legend of the Seeker, but I'm going to go with...Legend of the Seeker.
The thing about Firefly is, I love Joss Whedon shows for the most part. Despite their problems (because no show is perfect) I love the effort he makes to give us awesome strong women who drive the plot. But I also feel like a lot of times his shows can go off the rails in later seasons? Like, both Angel and Buffy had good and/or great things in their finals days, but for me overall the later seasons just didn't gel the same. So I'm kind of grateful that Firefly didn't have time to go nuts?
Whereas, Legend of the Seeker just kept getting better. There was always a certain amount of camp, but it was far more prevalent in the first season (and far far far more prevalent in Xena, the other big show from the same creator), but it kept shrinking as the series went on. And it's not that I don't like camp, it was just...really kind of awesome to get this fantasy series that was capable of affecting real emotion, not just being entertaining. And it gave us Cara, who I think is truly one of the greatest female characters of the last decade. Her journey towards redemption, painful and slow and real, was the best thing about this show. And the way she grew without losing her edge was especially awesome.
So yeah, pretty much all the characters on that show were pretty cool, but Cara wins everything, ever.
