It had been a rather trying week and sharing time with Orihime was exactly the kind of thing Tatsuki preferred to do than her actual job anyway. At this rate, she lightly considered just snagging her friend and running out the front door of the institute but that would make her a hypocrite, wouldn't it? Damn.
Well, one couldn't win them all, she supposed as she strode around the corner of the station's strange, booth-like alcove and waved.
"Yo Orihime," she smiled, a rare, soft, open one that really was reserved for this girl alone, and Ichigo when he was younger and when Tatsuki was not as quick with her temper. "Cookies, great," she nodded and it was genuine in spite of her familiarity with Orihime's culinary skill because if there was anything Tatsuki could be called a sap for, it was this girl, and the truth was, most things about her made Tatsuki glad to be around.
That was a special gift she could never really have, but she admired Orihime's ability to make people feel wanted, honestly even needed.
"Where's that idiot?" she muttered to herself, careful not to let Orihime hear her. But if Ichigo was late, Tatsuki would certainly clothesline him later in return. He should expect at least that much at this point.

When Ichigo arrive, she turned to him, smile still in place, even as her heart did a funny little flip (why did it always do those weird things? It was so -- so -- weird!). His question, however, struck worry into her heart -- should she give him the tray or not? Would he think less of her if she did? Would he think that she wasn't capable of carrying a tray herself? Because that would just be horrible, for him to think she couldn't even do a simple thing like that!
... but then if she didn't give him the tray, what would he think then? Would he think that she thought herself better than him? Or that she was being impolite?
Oh...
Finally, she said, "Thank you!" in a cheerful voice and handed the tray to him. "And yes, I'm ready. Um... I have a spot in mind, that is if you two don't mind, I mean, it's where I usually go and it's really nice, but it's fine if you two would rather go somewhere else..."

"No, if you have a place in mind that's fine. I didn't think of anything...neither did he," she nodded at him flatly and smiled at Orihime in turn. There was something permeable about her friend's kindness and open heart that brought out a softer side in Tatsuki, for the most part, which mostly meant she tried to curb her usual impulses--particularly the violent or irritable ones. She never really wanted Orihime to see that side of her if she could help it, unless it was a matter of course of protecting her, which was entirely different in Tatsuki's mind.
"Lead the way," she grinned and took Orihime's arm, linking it playfully with hers. They were good enough friends for this closeness, and there was something natural about the tenderness conveyed here.
Glancing back at Ichigo, she made a face as if to say: I'm glad you came...and don't do something stupid, all rolled into one expression. Her eyes were not hard with focus however and in this there was a degree less of her usual taunting and just a piece of advice, if only because she would, without reserve, prove she knew Ichigo well enough to provide a word or two of usefulness. Socially awkward couldn't begin to suffice for Tatsuki's description of him, but it would do temporarily and truth be known, Tatsuki had a hunch if Ichigo was any different, she might not care...er...or something, so much about his well-being.
Something similar could be said of her care toward Orihime but this was a lot of thought compressed into a one minute block of contemplation and Tatsuki opted in the end to just stop thinking, if she could, for the rest of their outing.
It didn't get her very far anyway.
