Just got back from watching Casino Royale. It was a very good movie, if a bit too drawn out. I could tell that it was a long movie, which means it wasn't super great. I was shocked when the end of Fellowship of the Ring came, because I was so into the movie, it didn't seem that long at all!
Perhaps it is because many Bond flicks tend to follow a formula. There's the action sequence at the very beginning, there are one or two conflicts with minor bad guys, some detective work, cue the cool gadgets, then huge action fight scene at the end. This movie had SO many action sequences! And they were all really really cool, but after the first couple, you rather expect the next one to be the end of the movie.
I really really liked the gadgetry in this one. It was all *WAY* more believeable than any others. GPS tracking? We got that. Portable defribrilators? Check. And the cars. *drooool* Oh the cars! I wantses it precious! So shiney! So sexy! And there was even a horsey!
The stunts were way cool, especially in the first chase sequence. It was rather like that youtube video of the
Urban Ninja. Lots of jumping from one thing to another way up high and somehow not blowing knees out. Very awesome. I wanna be able to do that.
The new Bond pulls off the character quite well I think. Does need a bit more polish. Perhaps that was on purpose, since this is *just* after his promotion to 007? But oh my is he yummy. Very, very, *VERY* yummy.
Fun movie. I'd watch it again for sure.
