CVS

So I've been toying around with CVS lately. I managed to get it installed, set up a repository, and create a project/module therein. Only problem is I can't seem to access it from a remote computer.

I'm trying to use tortoise cvs along with ssh tunneling. I can't seem to get it to work. It seems to connect... it asks me if I trust the server, and asks for my password, but then I get a bash error saying that the address of the server I am connecting to is an unknown command or somesuch.

Maybe I should use pserver instead? I did try that, but it just times out eventually. Not sure what I'm doing wrong.

And what happens if someone uses ftp to upload files instead of commiting them via cvs? what problems will that create?

Well, either way, more pressing currently is switching the DNS of the main site to point to the virtual server... stupid hosting companies going out of business. I don't even know who to contact about the DNS now.
