The shelter Jun had been talking about was just outside the poor district in the beginning of the forest. It hadn’t been used for quite a while and it looked like it could break down any minute, but Jun ensured them it would be safe and it wouldn’t collapse just like that. After a quick inspection Ninomiya saw the taller man was right, it didn’t look like much but it was good enough for them to get to work. He, Jun and Ohno got inside the shelter that was bigger on the inside than the vice-president had expected. It looked like they would have enough space to built the machine and still be able to walk around it without much problems. Scattered all around the place were already a lot of materials that would be needed to build the machine. Kazunari was happy to see already this much was inside and Jun had been right about it wouldn’t be a problem to collect everything.
“There are still some parts missing, but I’m sure I’ll be able to get them soon. I guess for now we have everything to start building, the things that are missing aren’t needed right now.” The three of them looked through the building plans again.
“I think we can start with this frame. It will be the main part for the machine but the hardest to build.” Ninomiya pointed at the picture of the frame of the machine. Ohno nodded and searched through his pockets.
“The problems are these two points” he circled around the points he meant with a pencil. “I have absolutely no idea how we have to do those and I talked about it with Mori yesterday but we both have no idea how to do it.”
“It is not that difficult once you know how to do that. But you can leave that to me I guess. I’m more worried about this one.” Ninomiya pointed at another part of the machine. “I think this can be really difficult and I think we need someone who knows more about building to do it.” The three of them sighed while looking at the plans. Kazunari had no idea how they would get some parts done and it looked like the other two didn’t really know it either. They all looked up in surprise when the door of the small building opened. Masaki and Sho stepped inside, quickly closing the door behind them to hide for possible curious eyes. When Ninomiya saw the twinkle inside his best friends eyes he smiled. He had missed that look and somehow seeing the two lovers together made his heart fill even more with hope. He wondered if he and Jun looked the same when they were together, but now was not a time to think about that.
“I thought I said we would return to Ohno-san’s house when it would be time to go back. Are you two already sick of each other?”
“Of course not! We just wanted to see if we can help in some way.” Sho got dragged to the other three by Masaki who was still holding his hand. They hadn’t let each other go after they had left the healers house and by the way the taller man was holding Sho’s hand he knew the man wouldn’t let him go. But he didn’t mind it at all as he didn’t want to let go either. For a moment the eyes of the vice-president and the president’s son met and Sakurai smiled. Unconsciously the younger man had shuffled a bit closer to Matsumoto but didn’t notice this until Jun softly touched his hand.
“So, what’s the plan?” Aiba asked while he looked at the papers in front of them. Satoshi pointed out some of the trouble points for which they didn’t had a solution yet. The leader of the poor district got a frown on his face.
“I think I can build some of these, but I’m not good with all those wires. To be honest, I have never seen something this complicated before, but I’m sure it will work out. Maybe we can ask someone from the district to help, but I don’t know who could do it…”
“I can do it.” Everyone looked surprised when Sho spoke. “I had an obsession with electric machines a couple of years ago and I learned a lot about how to build or repair them.”
“Who would have thought one of your weird obsessions would come in handy one day. I totally forgot you were into that”
“Never underestimate the power of someone who gets bored easily.” They all laughed and when Sakurai felt the hand around his tighten a bit he looked at his lover. He saw the same spark in those eyes as he felt inside. They could really do this. They could make the wall disappear and be able to give everyone electricity. But what mattered the most, they could be together without any worries when everything was finished. Caught up in the moment he pulled the man closer and captured his lips, totally forgetting about the others in the room until he heard a dry cough.
“I don’t see how that is helping us” Both Aiba and Sakurai blushed at the snarky remark of Ninomiya.
“Ow, let them, you are just jealous” Jun laughed when the vice-president also turned slightly pink as the taller man gave him a quick peck on his lips. They all laughed.
“Now, how shall we do this? I think it is best if Aiba, Mori and I work on this machine as much as we can for a couple of days. We will also find the other parts that we will need. After four days I think we will come to a part were we will need your help, but in the mean time I think it’s safer for you to stay away from here. Even though we are so close to changing everything, we still need to be careful.”
“Ohno-san, do you think I can take the part of the plans with the more electronic stuff on it so I can study it a bit more?”
“I don’t think that’s a problem, so if it helps you please take them.” They discussed some other things before it slowly started to grow dark outside. A bit worried Ninomiya looked at his watch, seeing it was already later than he wanted.
“Sho, we have to go. I think we already have been away for too long and staying even longer would be dangerous.” Sho nodded and even though he didn’t want to leave, he knew the vice-president was right. Now wasn’t the time to take risks. He could almost feel the temperature in the room drop as the mood turned slightly sad. Slowly he and Masaki followed the others out of the small shelter, both wishing they could stretch the time somehow. Outside the older man pulled his lover in an embrace, holding him tightly.
“I’ll be back in four days” he softly whispered. He could feel Aiba’s nod on his shoulder.
“Be careful, I’ll be waiting for you” the taller man gave him a soft, sweet kiss before he freed himself from the embrace. Behind them they saw that Ninomiya had pushed Jun against a tree and pulled him into a rough kiss which made Aiba giggle.
“Who would have thought Mori was the lover of the vice-president of the rich district. Why didn’t you tell me that?”
“I never really thought of telling that, I didn’t see of what use it could be.” He pulled up his shoulders “Oh well, it looks like I have to tear them apart this time or else I’m afraid we never get home.” They didn’t notice Satoshi was standing beside Masaki after he had closed the door of the shelter until he suddenly yelled the name of the youngest of the group. Quickly the two split apart, turning bright red. The five of them said their goodbyes and soon after Ninomiya and Sakurai were inside the wall again, walking through the streets of the rich district. As they were chatting about some random stuff they didn’t notice the shadow that had been following them since they came back inside the wall.

After four days had passed Sho and Kazunari went back to the poor district were they helped for a couple of hours on building the machine. The building of the machine went quite smoothly and when they had arrived Ninomiya could start with his parts right away. Sho had still been studying the electronic parts of the machine and he thought he could do it, but he still had to wait for the main frame of the machine to be finished until he could do anything about it. Since the shelter wasn’t that big Ohno took him to get some materials they still needed but for which they hadn’t been able to find the time for. While they were walking through the narrow streets the healer spoke out his worries about the machine.
“Do you know anything about how this machine will work in combination with the one in the palace?”
“I’m sorry, but I can’t seem to find anything on that matter. Apparently no one really knows how it is working, not even my teacher that learned me about electronics. I think it is a risk we have to take in order to find out if it would work”
“I was already afraid you would say something like that. But I guess you are right, we don’t really have a choice here, we just have to try. Alright, that here is the last one we need for today, let’s return.” The healer picked up something from the ground Sakurai didn’t even see at first sight. When they returned the other three had made great progress and it even started to look like a real machine already. When Ohno and Sakurai returned they stopped working on it and sat down for a while, eating the food the healer had brought with him. Time flew by as they relaxed a little and soon after Sho and Kazunari had to return to their district. This time they wouldn’t come back for at least a week as the three of the poor district could manage to finish most of the machine by themselves and they decided it would be better if the other two would stay away for a while, just to be sure. Sakurai would take most of the wires and electronics with him to start making the needed part at the palace, since it wasn’t that big and easy to sneak in and out. It would also mean they would gain a lot of time if he could work on it while the other parts of the machine would be built at the same time. They made an agreement that Jun would come to the palace to get the two from the rich district when they were ready with the machine. Since the only thing that would be left to do after that was putting the part Sakurai would make into the machine, they decided to make it an appointment at night. It would be a bit difficult to work in the dark shelter, but with the lamps Ninomiya and Sho could bring it wouldn’t be a really big problem.
Building the rest and finishing the machine in order to get it ready for the final part took more time than anyone had expected. Some trouble occurred in the poor district that took Aiba some time to handle with, but after almost three weeks Jun finally made his way into the palace. He got Ninomiya out of his room and they went to the bedroom of the president’s son together. After almost being caught twice (at night the security was tightened at the moment, seeing everything that had happened) the three men finally made it to the shelter were Ohno and Aiba were waiting impatiently. But instead of finishing the machine right away Masaki threw his arms around Sakurai’s neck who lost his balance and fell to the ground.
“I missed you” the taller man said between the kisses he spread all over the other mans face. Sho just giggled and let him be for a while, hugging him closer.
“I missed you too, but I have a feeling we are being watched”
“Who cares, let them watch, I’m not done yet.” He finally ended on Sho’s lips, staying there a bit longer until Ninomiya finally got enough of it.
“OK guys, that’s enough. Let’s just finish this damn machine, then you can have all the time in the world.” Aiba and Sho whined childishly but Sakurai pushed the taller man gently off him and helped him up. They installed the lights in the right places were the presidents son could get enough light to see what he was doing. Even though he had thought it wouldn’t take that long until he would be done, the morning light slowly started to enter through the window when he was finally finished. Sakurai sighed and stepped back, making space for Ohno to put in the Magenthium Peroxidile. Aiba woke up Jun and Kazunari who had fallen asleep in the corner of the shelter, where the shorter man had used the other as a pillow. All five of them lined up in front of the machine, looking at their work. It was Ninomiya who finally broke the silence.
“I guess all that is left now is to get this thing outside and let the Magenthium Peroxidile fill up with sunlight. After that it should work” they were all getting a bit nervous and Masaki was the first to get to the door to open it. Everyone turned to the man when they heard a sudden scream and saw the tallest jumping back in the shelter. Before anyone could ask what was going on a man stepped inside with a gun pointed at the leader of the poor district.
“So this is what my son and my vice-president have been doing behind my back.” The president of the rich district stepped inside and smiled bitterly “I thought we made an agreement Sho. But unlike you, I’m not going to break it”
“No wait, It’s not what you think it is” Ninomiya stepped forward, hoping he could talk to the president. But by the look the president gave him he knew it was useless.
“I don’t think I asked you something. You already betrayed me like this now, if you want to live you better stay out of this.” The president turned back to his son. “I wish I could say I’m sorry, but I’m not” Sakurai knew what his father was going to do, so he pulled Aiba into his arms, hoping he could protect his lover. He looked straight into the eyes of his father and saw the man was serious. He grabbed Masaki even tighter as his father pointed the gun, begging him to please listen to them and don’t shoot. But the president didn’t listen as he pulled the trigger…
