Summary: What really happened in the lift?
There was something oddly appealing about Gene in the squirrel costume.
Sam could make out Gene’s strength and self-confidence, but the furry coat and humourous whiskers tempered some of the brutality and anger. The combination was irresistible, considering the stress Sam had been under trying to save the Guv.
There wasn’t much room in the lift, and Sam took advantage of the moment, getting closer and then even closer. Rubbing himself against the leg of the costume, seeking quick relief, senses heightened with the danger of discovery. He knew Gene would resent this as much as any kind of public affection that Sam dared bestow, but Sam figured there wasn’t much Gene could do in the confines of his disguise besides grumbling, and since Sam didn’t hear anything, he wasn’t inclined to stop.
It was hardly enough, but it was more contact than Sam had been able to have with Gene since Morgan had shown up, bringing fear and doubt into the vague happiness that Sam had begun to find in his strange new world. They’d been alone in Sam’s flat the night before, but Gene’s emotional armour was so firmly in place that Sam hadn’t dared to suggest anything, much less make a physical move. Here, now, under these nearly ludicrous circumstances, he felt less constrained. Somehow the presence of the “rat” freed his inhibitions.
He humped hard against the yellow trousers covering the over-sized animal leg, feeling his toes curl in his boots as he ground out a few seconds of pleasure, culminating in a gasp muffled against the squirrel’s heavily padded shoulder, before the door could open.
Naturally Gene picked that moment to mutter something from under disguise.
“Jesus, Tyler. Watch you don’t get any spunk on the costume. Be a nuisance explaining that to the kiddies, wouldn’t it?”
Sam sighed and smiled, ready to do whatever it took to prove his DCI’s innocence so Gene could show his face again.
Even if he would miss Tufty.
