Cameron did her best to keep the shock off her face.

At certain angles the resemblance was stunning, even though this was a man who clearly valued a close shave and a well made suit and tie. Mostly it was the eyes, that particular shade of blue that made you want to stare into them forever.

Or had once.

Six years ago she’d been very young and very naïve. Now she was neither, and despite the similarity in looks, this was a different man making a different offer entirely.

Rather than discussing her qualifications or even what the job would entail, he handed her a medical file.

“Tell me, Dr. Cameron, what would be your diagnosis for this patient?”

She forced her gaze away from Mr. Siviter’s face and down to the pages. The patient’s name was blacked out, as well as several other blocks of information. She looked up and raised her eyebrows.

“Certain details have been redacted, but nothing that’s medically relevant. Please work with what you have.”

Cameron glanced at the list of symptoms which appeared to be a fairly run-of-the-mill case of the flu. But she wouldn’t be here if it was. It wasn’t the patient who needed a diagnosis, but the situation.

She handed back the file.

“The patient is already dead.”

A nod and the faintest hint of a smile.

“I’d test tissue samples for propanyl.”

“Very good.” It was hard to tell if she was being appreciated or mocked.

“You’re telling me your doctors here couldn’t figure that out? “

Cameron could have sworn she saw a hint of chagrin behind that smooth demeanor.

“I’m afraid our NHS boys are a bit pedantic in their thinking. We’ll discuss how you reached your conclusion over dinner.”

“Dinner?”

“Yes, I’ll pick you up at 8.”

Please tell me he's not married...

Cameron could have sworn she saw a hint of chagrin behind that smooth demeanor.

Nice.

How sad is it I think Jools is a nicer man than House these days? I hope Cameron likes Wagner.

Not necessarily nicer, but far better at maintaining a facade of civility. And definitely a man who's happier with himself. They're both bastards, but Jools is at least superficially a more pleasant one.

Lovely! So awesome! I think Jools has more poise and charm (not to mention effing awesome suits and Foreman's ties), which goes a long way for people.

This character must stay alive forever, sigh.

This beats the hell out of a christmas card, lol.
