Stray thoughts

Is there any reason I need to care about Dreamwidth? Can I happily ignore it as I do Insanejournal and Twitter? It sounds like a party a lot of my friends are going to, but it doesn't sound terribly different from the party I'm already at, where I can barely keep up with greeting the people I already know ( Read more... )

I think people are still figuring out what kind of party DW is going to be, so you only need to worry if someone you *must* read is only posting there. Most of my flist are crossposting. I'm sitting on the fence as usual, although I love not having numbers after my username for once. Petty? Me?

Totally.

Glad the keys turned up :D

Good to know. Right now I'm just not seeing any reason to get on this particular bandwagon.

I made the first day of MMOM!!!

*adjusts dress*

I am going to go play at Dreamwidth primarily to 1) FINALLY make a mirror of all my fic.
2) Maybe get all my creative stuff (including layout codes) in one place - right now they are in a couple (or 3 different ones)
3) play with some different code - and stretch my brain muscles a bit.
4) I cannot resist the lure of reading DW on DW...

*looks up the page* I still haven't seen this weeks A2A episode but- Chris over the Audi? Feel free to take that as literally *over* it or about it...

I registered and imported my LJ. I hope people will use both but the reason I looked for an invite for DW was so I wouldn't be left here with tumbleweeds blowing past.

I am getting a little worried about those tumbleweeds. Today seemed to be some kind of Tipping Point day where it felt like nearly everyone on my f-list was posting about DW.

Hopefully it's just first day excitement and people will cross-post. I've found some of my flist on there but not all so I'll certainly keep using LJ.

It's because closed beta on the site ended and open beta started, so anyone who had an OpenID registered over there got an invite code (that's what happened to me) and created a journal.

I don't think it's anything to be too excited about yet but I do think it might eventually at least split LJ traffic up. Just my feeling on it.

Someone on my flist gave me a DW invite, so I set myself up over there. But my lj account just renewed last month, so I definitely won't be leaving here for good unless everyone and their mother really does decide to ditch.

Personally, I don't see the appeal. It looks almost exactly like lj. Why leave lj for a copy?

The original's still the greatest. I'm not going to worry for the time being.

I just got an account there while I will be sharing with everyone soon...but like kimberweeme, my account here just renewed and I don't pay for something for one month and then ditch it lol

So far it's not very active and is basically just like LJ but with little features for free accounts. No way I'm paying for 2 journals at once. However, a lot of my flist is going over there so I don't want to lose contact with half the people I read everyday.

The thing I would be most concerned with is if the fic communities went over and people stopped posting and commenting here.
