I think that you could build an epic angst fic around these two lines alone:
Besides, men didn’t count that way. If they did, he wouldn’t have bothered getting married.
and
He’d rather be cheated on than abandoned.

I think I love it even more that they never *talk* about it so neither knows why the other is doing it -- how the other views it. I wonder what happened in Wilson's past that he thinks casual sex with men doesn't mean anything -- has he had casual sex with men before House? Does he ever have sex with other men now? (talk about potential fic fodder there O_O) and then why House accepts it and says nothing when House's whole world view is teling the truth even when it hurts -- what makes House never bold enough to speak up and say what about me to wilson or do something to make wilson think that when wilson is not with a wife or girlfriend (since wilson runs to house for comfort in those times)... I really am amazed at how much you were able to say with this in so few words O_O very deftly done :D

I'm absolutely convinced they NEVER talk about it. I have many different fanons for who initiated and when it happened first, but right now I'm sure it's a completely dirty secret, espcially on Wilson's side.

I'm really glad you liked this. I do want to do another major angst-smut epic, using some of the recent developments/revelations, but this will have to be a placeholder for the time being.

ooo so what made House not mention it after the first time (or first few times?)? How did wilson act after :D omg *dying to know* :D I'm so excited that you want to write more about this in the future <3 *yippee!* :D I love this idea and so few ppl ever even touch on it! ((In my vision of Wilson i have doubts that he could ever be faithful to anyone :) which maybe House realizes that right from the get go and doesn't expect fidelity so why bother being in an 'exclusive' relationship with wilson (assuming House would even want that to start with)

Oooh, ow. I thought it was going to be more of a one-sided thing, but no.

I'm all about the mutual pain they cause each other. I tend to take House's side, but I know that it's definitely a "two to tango" situation. Wilson feeds on House's neediness, but House is getting something out of the relationship. I think it's beautiful, ugly, deep, complex and fucked up. And I really do think it's the truest love either of them will ever have. I just don't think it can ever make them "happy" in the schmoopy/fluff sense.

Oh nice. And very true to both of them.

Thanks. I've been nursing the premise for a few weeks and really wanted to get it out there.

poor House. The man that hates lies, loving a man that lives in them.

This was beautiful.

Thank you! That is an essential contradiction in the relationship, and yet another reason why they will never be happy together, but can't be happy apart from each other either.

And you just summed up their lives completely in less than 400 words... God, I love you! *hugs* <333

Thanks. I was afraid I was being a bit facile and just regurgitating H/W cliches rather than getting to any essential truth, but I needed to write something like this.

Glad you liked.
