You really need to make a collection of this kind of stuff with the names changed to protect the innocent.

this is fabulous.

As far as I'm concerned nobody is innocent.

I do have some interesting ideas about the dynamic on the team before Sam showed up.

Glad you liked. :)

yeah, I think I left out of a few words there. What I meant was you need to make a "short story" collection of this stuff for publication with the names changed to protect the innocent.

In this case the innocent would be you... from copyright infringement and some big tee-vee conglomerate knocking on your door.

FWIW, my NOVEL in progress includes a completely made up fandom, for which I've written completely made up fanfic.

How long did it take to come up with "face-off with the one-eyed monster"?

"One-eyed trouser snake" is a variatin I'm familiar with.

Just out of curiosity, it wouldn't have happened to have been you at comic con with the adipose hanging round your neck that John Barrowman commented upon, would it?

I had no preconceived ideas about where this would end up - like I said in the prompt, I've never read any Gene/Ray - and it really puts a whole different slant on Ray's leer and they way he is with Sam and with Gene. Confused, complicated emotions from two men who don't really show them.

I think this is a history I could get mighty interested in...

I think from Day 1, Ray's reaction to Sam has had a level of jealousy, and it plays through both series. Part of the brilliance of the writing is the multiple ways those looks can be interpreted. This kind of backstory would bring a whole new bunch of angst to both Ray and Gene in the ep where the guy dies in custody and Ray gets demoted.

Thanks for the prompt.

I like this :) it definitely fits the prompt and you have Ray's denial and jealousy down perfect.

Ray clearly has issues with the Guv and I think there's a lot to explore.

Thanks for reading and commenting.

I think it is the last line that sells this. Turns it round and emphasises the real meaning behind the first part. : )
