Not only was Shirley Temple a unique star, but a genuinely, nice person.

When I was little, I glimpsed her once at Macy's in Valley Fair (Santa Clara). My mother read that Shirley was meeting a group there, although it wasn't a public appearance. We just kind of waited around until we spotted her on the escalator.

I always found her an interesting person, cute in the movies I saw of hers, and that she left it all behind and went onto a different career. An amazing lady in so many ways.

This bums me out SO much. She used her time here well but it wasn't enough, dammit! I loved the NY Times obit for her.
