Arrow-Episodes 22 and 23

Nov 19, 2013 22:02

Lord willin' and the crick don't rise, I will never have to watch another episode of this unmitigated piece of shit. Halle-bloody-lu-jah! It's taken me this long to get through the last few eps because facing that level of dreck was just dispiriting.

*SIGH!*

Like your Moira icon. She was a character I almost liked, but the writing made it damned hard.

Is he pulling a "Jack" or is it flash-back/vision stuff? (Don't worry about spoiling me-I couldn't care less.)

I tried with Arrow - I really tried. Watched a couple beginning ones and then went back when I saw JB was on. No. Just...no. In the end I was like you, just watching for JB being all badass and hot and could give a fuck about everything else. And this season I haven't watched it at all.

Supernatural's like that for me, too. I watch the eps Mark Sheppard (Crowley) is on and could give a damn about the rest. Don't get the plotlines/backstory & don't care - I just want MS looking smoldering in a suit :)

Exactly---I tried SO HARD! I didn't WANT to be hate-watching a show just because my Barrowmania was out of control. I tried to ship Oliver/Tommy, I tried to think Felicity was adorable, I tried to at least like WALTER...but no, the sheer unpleasantness of virtually all the non-John characters and especially the unrepentant self-fucking-righteousness of the lead made it absolutely impossible.

I hadn't bothered checking Arrow out. I guess I'll continue to not bother, then. Pity.

It does, however, sound as though seeking out John Barrowman screencaps, gifs and clips from the show might be in order. And -- Alex Kingston?

I've made some lovely screencaps...and reblogged some others:

As for Alex...this show is so bad it actually managed to make her look unattractive and not very talented. Straight hair + REALLY BAD American Accent.

Does this mean you're done watching it or has the show been canceled? I think I watched two or three eps and it was a struggle. Finally I said there's no reason watching a show should be a struggle and changed the channel. :)

Not only not canceled, but in it's second season already. Apparently Barrowman is back, see further up the thread. I just can't put myself through any more Non-John eps, but I have to see him being all bad-ass and gorgeous. Seriously, I wish I still had any filk-chops because there needs to be a filk to Why, God Why from Miss Saigon, called Why John Why?

I was going to give you the not so great for you news, but on the slightly positive side, he's only confirmed (or was when I saw it) for two episodes, so maybe you'll only have to watch his scenes? Though from the stuff above it sounds like it's another majorish story? Which I, not hating the show, find an interesting story, but I get it's not great for you.

I really don't know how Katie can do that to herself. She looked so pretty in Supernatural (bad show too, I know, but she was attractive - so was the lady who played Lisa on Torchwood whose name I'm too lazy to google) and Gossip Girl, so why would she do that to herself?

While I'm here, where does the "Lord willing..." quote come from? I know I've heard it before, but can't recall where.

I'm sure it's an American regionalism, either from the South or the West. I'm not even sure where I picked it up. It could have been my urban/Northeastern/Jewish family mocking that kind of speech, but it's just one of those things I've always said.

I honestly don't get the botox thing. I mean I get the "youth obsession" in Hollywood, but it doesn't actually make anyone look attractive. Maybe, maybe if you're genuinely in your 50's/60's and need to smooth things out a bit...but that actress is a fucking CHILD compared to me, so honestly, I don't see it. (Of course, I think David's had some work at this point, so maybe she just thinks it's a natural thing to do.)

Thanks for that. I'm almost sure I've heard it in something Southern related but I could be wrong, it's just something I know I've heard - in dialogue as far as I know, and I knew it was familiar when you've used it before.

I really don't get it either. It really does not. She's so young. David has indeed - he was on CSI last year and definitely work, but not of that kind (also looking quite good).

I also think we have to face it - John's taken work where he can get it and at least he looks like he's actually having fun doing it. Plus, even a bad show can be a good launch pad and I do think he's trying to get the US profile working again.

LJ is being a TWAT today! If I get this comment through, it will be a miracle--I'm on my third or fourth try.

So--what I'm trying to say is on one level, I kind of respect John for enjoying the hell out of being Malcolm, instead of that sort of superior "for the money, dear boy" attitude that some of our finer actors espouse. BUT the show still sucks.

I'd really love it if he got his own BBC series, where he played the title character. (If it can happen to Eve....)

Oh David! I do love him. I was such a "16 Magazine" reader during the David Cassidy/Donny Osmond period. (And yet, now I'm a old fart who can't understand 1D fandom at all.)
