Not just looking back at it fondly, or remembering how much I loved it. I mean I still actively feel the loss. And it's funny because I only watched for about two years.

I was turned on to it by BFF Jen and it was JUST SO GOOD. Yes, it was a soap opera, one of the last of the 1/2 hour soaps. It was shown on ABC (Channel 7 when I was growing up in NY/NJ area) and came on at 4PM right after General Hospital. It was also smart, funny, witty, romantic, well written, beautiful to look at.

Jen was most into the pairing of Sky and Raven, who were awesome, but I fell for a ton of bricks for Dr. Miles Cavanaugh played by Joel Crouthers. He's the guy in the credits with the Magnum PI mustache. I mean I was IN LOVE. I was OBSESSED. Major sexual fantasies, which the show eventually fulfilled when he fell in love with Dr. Beth Correll the 26 year old virgin, and then waited until their wedding night to have sex, and it was perfect. That was my fantasy what sex was going to be like. No, I don't blame Miles or the show for the eventual disappointment of reality. (Beth's bitchy sister was a very young Marcia Cross.)

Mr. Crouthers died in 1985 of AIDS and I was devastated. (Just about a month after Rock Hudson, interestingly enough.) I remember cutting out pictures and gluing them in my journal (back when my journal was in a notebook) and writing, "I too love a dead man." I can't remember who the "too" referred to, but I remember writing it.

Such great characters: Didi and Gavin, Gunther and Mitzi, Mike and Nancy Karr, Geraldine Saxon, Preacher and Jody.

I came to the show late and was watching all the way up to the last episode on December 15, 1982 and it was one of the most brilliant last episodes ever. Every plot line was wrapped up, all the couples given either happy endings or acceptable resolutions...and then in the last two minutes, something happened that set whole new cliffhanger. I was literally screaming. And then it was over.

I went on to other soaps, but it's the best one I ever saw and I still miss it.
