“Merry Christmas, Nana.”
David embraces his grandmother, the woman who raised him, and pretty much single-handedly kept him out of the gangs. She’s lost some weight, but she’s still the strongest woman he’s ever known.
“And who’s this,” she asks, cutting to the chase, clearly wondering why there’s a white man standing awkwardly on her front steps.
David and Colby have discussed this. Colby said he wasn’t pushing David to do anything. David had thought he was ready, but now he’s starting to panic.
“Uh, Nana, this is Colby Sinclair, he’s my…partner.”
It’s the best he can do for now.
