His weekly bit of fun with the Missus generally happened while he was half-asleep.
For some reason this makes me feel a bit sorry for the Missus, although I seem to remember she managed to get some more, uh, exhilarating experiences elsewhere :).

Great end line, and how long he'll be thinking once Sam gets really going is anyone's guess.

Well there's some dispute as to the actual existence of "the Missus," but I like to give her and Gene the benefit of the doubt and believe they do love each other and manage to find happiness and pleasure where they can.

I decided to go with this approach because "top Gene" is really the (ahem) dominant paradigm in the fandom, and I like the idea of Gene contending with other possibilities.
