Sorry, I'm late. Reilly tells me that my *fans* were concerned that I hadn't posted yet. Had to deal with some back pain and getting a decent night's sleep, but here I am. And guess what? SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!

I did like Jack playing camp!boyfriend to irritate Rex, and I think the Oswald subplot is fairly interesting (did you see that Lauren Ambrose is going to play "Funny Girl", btw?) but I'm not entirely sure why I'm still watching really. (Other than it's August and there's not a lot else on.)

I'm less invested in Jack as a character than you, but if anything, he feels a lot less central to this series than previous ones. Which would be OK with me if the new characters were interesting, but they just killed off one of the only interesting ones. (Not to mention that means that all the non-white characters are now officially "dead".)
I do like Gwen -- I think I kind of wish this was her show and Jack stayed wherever the hell he was before, having larky adventures.

I agree there are unfortunate implications to having Dr. Suarez be the victim in this episode, and there's already been plenty of wank about it, but the fact is, if you have a diverse cast, then anybody who buys the farm, is going be a member of some minority group.
I fully admit to my Jack-centric take on the show. As long as I get my Jack, I will keep squeeeeing. IF (not a spoiler, just a rumor) something actually terminal happens to him, I will not whinge about it. As long as the next five eps don't character assassinate him (and I think you know how I define that) then I'll be glad I got the "restoration" that I did.

Still, can't say it's not gripping, and I was holding my breath towards the end and didn't realize it! Poor Rex....
