Maybe I'd have been less offended if I'd had advance warning, but I don't trust this show within 100 miles of Nazi metaphors. Not to mention the incredible obviousness of "gee, let's guess why they're rounding the sick people into camps". Mostly I think they're stretching out a 3-hour plot into 10 hours and filling in the gaps with a lot of really cliched stuff.

I did like Jack playing camp!boyfriend to irritate Rex, and I think the Oswald subplot is fairly interesting (did you see that Lauren Ambrose is going to play "Funny Girl", btw?) but I'm not entirely sure why I'm still watching really. (Other than it's August and there's not a lot else on.)

I am glad I was warned, and if I hadn't been, I probably would have been upset, but not shocked ( ... )

Have you ever seen "Slings and Arrows"? (You totally should, if you haven't.) The series where they're doing Macbeth, one of the characters comments that Macbeth is fundamentally uninteresting because it's about evil people doing evil things. While I'm not sure I buy that as an analysis of Macbeth I do think the general point is true, and it's one of the reasons I find myself not caring at all about this plot.

I'm less invested in Jack as a character than you, but if anything, he feels a lot less central to this series than previous ones. Which would be OK with me if the new characters were interesting, but they just killed off one of the only interesting ones. (Not to mention that means that all the non-white characters are now officially "dead".)

I do like Gwen -- I think I kind of wish this was her show and Jack stayed wherever the hell he was before, having larky adventures.

Loves me some Slings and Arrows and the MacBeth series was definitely my favorite, because OMG-Geraint Wyn Davies, on top of everything else I love about the show. (The third series got a little dark for my taste...drug addiction is a bit of squick for me.)

I agree there are unfortunate implications to having Dr. Suarez be the victim in this episode, and there's already been plenty of wank about it, but the fact is, if you have a diverse cast, then anybody who buys the farm, is going be a member of some minority group.

I fully admit to my Jack-centric take on the show. As long as I get my Jack, I will keep squeeeeing. IF (not a spoiler, just a rumor) something actually terminal happens to him, I will not whinge about it. As long as the next five eps don't character assassinate him (and I think you know how I define that) then I'll be glad I got the "restoration" that I did.

I was stunned. And so sad because I thought Vera was a great addition to the team. C'est la vie Torchwood. I should know better than to get attached to 'Special Guest Stars', lol.

Still, can't say it's not gripping, and I was holding my breath towards the end and didn't realize it! Poor Rex....

Mekhi's been doing some amazing acting, especially since he's had to do heavy lifting on both the snarky bastard and action hero front. Phicorp and whoever is behind are in BIG TROUBLE now.
