Hard to believe that someday they’d all be worried about global warming.

He could definitely go for some climate change right now, when the feeble heater was barely keeping the office from being a veritable meat-locker and the ME insisted the body had frozen, holding up the autopsy.

Sam noticed that Gene hardly seemed troubled by the cold at all, despite the suspiciously ruddy color of his cheeks. No doubt that life-saving flask was near to hand and providing constant warmth.

In 2006, he’d call it alcoholism and arrange an intervention.

Now it just seemed like a bloody good idea.

Summary: Sweating the oldies.

What passes for air conditioning in the Cortina is a joke.

The windows are open, and Sam is actually hoping they don’t catch the two purse-snatchers right way. He’s enjoying the breeze from the high speed pursuit, even if every moment with Gene Hunt behind the wheel is like a date with danger.

Sam tries to remember if the summers had been this blistering hot when he was a child, or the winters as brutally cold. If this is global climate change, he’s just as happy that no one here has twigged yet.

Gene would look terrible in a Prius.
