Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows-Part 1-Movie Review
I'm not really a Harry Potter person...
I haven't read the books and I only go to the movies because Hubby loves the book and wants to see the movies. So my reactions have been based on going in cold, with no expectations except whatever happened in the previous movies.
This time around I was amused by how Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint had gone from bare-faced boys to having actual scruff in some of the scenes. I'm actually surprised the "fantasy" bit that showed Emma Watson's CGI boobs made the cut for PG-13.
I'm glad to see that Harry seems to have gotten past some of his adolescent angstiness.
There wasn't nearly enough Snape and I still can't help regretting that Ralph Fiennes has to play Voldemort without his lovely nose.
I really loved the dancing scene between Harry and Hermione. I thought it was extremely well-acted/directed and the music was perfect. Sounded like the Walker Brothers, but I have to assume it wasn't. I'm not any kind of a shipper in the Potter-verse except for Snape-love, which is only about Alan Rickman as opposed to the actual character, so I have no investment in the couples per se, but I feel that scene showed the potential of Harry/Hermione, but also the sadness and how they couldn't really be together. Probably my favorite scene in the whole movie.
This was a case (unlike Iron Man II) where I did feel the IMAX was a worthwhile addition.
Sorry, folks. I could care less about Dobby. Dead, alive or otherwise.
