Lorne's sense of humor is a tricky subject. Not only because we're talking about a demon's sense of humor, but because Lorne is not only a very unusual demon, but a very unusual man. At first glance, Lorne's sense of humour is quirky, sassy, full of charm and innuendo. He teases and flirts and, to some extent, makes fun of your most obvious flaws. Most of all, however, Lorne's sense of humour is self-deprecating. At the same time, he uses his pizazzy little funny bone as a shield.

It's very easy to see Lorne as a slapstick joke personified, only, once his tongue goes wagging, the slaps and the sticks are all verbal acrobatics and inventive plays on semantics. In fact, it's entirely too easy to see him as a joke, full stop, because how many demons do you know whose greatest idol is Aretha Franklin, who gets away with the most unbelievable outfits (and looks damn good wearing 'em, too), who's the sweetest, most flamboyant little joker around?

Lorne is a very complex character, safe to say, and poking at his sense of humour, you're just scratching the surface.

What does Lorne find funny? Honestly? I have no idea. Well... he does get a kick out of experimenting with linguistics. And flirting. When it comes down to it, Lorne just doesn't get a lot of space to explore his own sense of humour, because half the time he's on screen, he's working at maximum capacity to be the funny guy, the witty, harmless guy with the horns, the demon who breaks the mold all over the place.

More often than not, though, the joke is on Lorne. Not only when he makes some remark about the whereabouts of his heart, which doesn't always go over too well with Humans, but there are times when his attempts at regaling just goes right down the drain. Think Lorne and Wesley's father in season 5. That's how Lorne's sense of humour sometimes spells 'disaster'.

Complex muse, complex character. But no, all in all, Lorne and I get our kicks from basically the same things. Charming, unexpected pet names and quirky references to pop culture (gotta get better at those, though), sweet similies... Yeah. I like those things, too.

And nope, no grossing out factor, on either our parts. It's a win/win situation, really.
