Yuletide Reveal

Jan 02, 2009 14:42

Yuletide 2008 came very close to not happening at all; I landed home three days before the reveal with nothing written for one main and a pinch hit, and mostly did the "despair!!!" thing. *g* Then I stuck my head into #yuletide, and everyone there was so enthusiastic, awesome and relentlessly evil encouraging that I ended up with 3 main stories, 5 ( Read more... )

index, yuletide, wow i talk too much

Have read the Lucifer one and am liking it muchly <3

A question though, because it was bugging me as I read through it: the title of part 3 made me think "Macbeth", but then the mention of Denmark made me go "Hamlet?"
Alternatively, I am completely and utterly off the mark. Regardless, I'd like to know which of these it is.

Heh, I actually wasn't thinking of Shakespeare at all when I was writing that one! Though, now that you mention it, I see where the links might've been pretty strong, considering it's padded on both ends by literary references. *g* No, K is not that smrt and meta -- Denmark was the result of my beta correcting me: I'd originally put Salem, but apparently they only hanged witches there, never burned.

Oh, I see. I guess it's because I'd had Hamlet drilled into my brain in high school that the whole Denmark + men being senseless and tearing themselves apart thing stood out for me.

In other news: on the house of windowless rooms arc (Lucifer). Hybrid eastern/western style is slightly strange but am slowly growing accustomed to it. Lucifer in a kimono. Or at least, an oriental style robe. I thought of Tseng when I saw this, and of the ever-increasing cross over potential *promptly shoots it*

I APPROVE OF TSENG IN A KIMONO

OH HEY CONSIDERING THAT RUFUS/LUCIFER ONE HAD THEM IN WESTERN STYLE SUITS.

YOU KNOW.

BUBBLE BUBBLE TOIL AND TROUBLE, BABY.

*laughs*

Oh man. If Tseng were, you know, a real person, he would probably shoot me in the head for drawing attention to his ethnicity in such a blatant and unoriginal way. Hell, I could go the full nine yards and throw in a few katanas and random Chinese characters and place it all against a generic Japanese setting.
Orientalism, why art thou so easy to fall back on? D:

Heh. Tseng probably doesn't care much about ethnicity unless someone makes a point of it. *g* I bet most people he encounters couldn't tell the difference between Japanese and Chinese and anything else if it sat up and punched them in the face. :D :D

ALSO, you should totally leave a list of things you want to see in the fic. *BEAMS*

ooooh. The Lucifer/Rufus one yes? Erm, let's see. I think I've mentioned most of them before, but in short: many different kinds of bastardry, mind games, power games, snarky dialogue, religious references/double entendres, drawing attention to the similarities between the two (because that's what started this whole fiasco anyway)...and perhaps a scene where they are sharing a sofa, as in the image?

THAT LIST IS LONGER THAN I INTENDED IT BE TO. I HONESTLY DON'T MIND AS LONG AS THE TWO OF THEM ARE PRESENT AND INTERACT. I AM EASY TO PLEASE. REALLY.

OKAY.

I WILL FIGHT TO KEEP TSENG OUT OF THIS, OH YES I WILL.

Oh, no need to keep Tseng out, if he decides he wishes to be present for the fireworks. *adding fuel la di da*

Now, what would Rufus and Lucifer be meeting for, hmmmm; a Lucifer-in-Midgar or a Rufus-in-Hell, hmmmmm.

dnatio_memoriae January 2 2009, 14:08:47 UTC
Hell and Midgar are arguably the same thing, or at least, there is a great deal of overlap (post-apocalptic Midgar anyway oh god lack of canon knowledge showing through here)

Otherwise, Rufus-in-Lux is another possibility.
