Not Prime Time letter here, move along.
General: I'm omnivorous as a reader and am trigger-free. I'll read any rating. An idea of what I like to read can be found in my horrendously-outdated
recs tag.
Some things that would be helpful: I'd rather a thoughtful/funny/introspective gen piece than a piece in which a pairing is forced/magically gets solved by a relationship happening; I'm an extremely big fan of old, old friendships/relationships getting rehashed or re-examined or just confronted in general; the more gut-wrenching, the better. Have a great idea for an AU? Go for it, just make sure that it's in a fandom I know about.
Hikaru no Go
As with Gundam Wing, I came a thousand years late to this party, but party on I shall.
[edit] belatedly realising Ogata isn't on the nominated character list, so feel free to ignore anything I say about him.
As I said in my request, I'd love to see more about Ogata: tell me about his family history; tell me about his bad habits, but his good habits as well; tell me about whether he deals with prejudice; tell me about why and how he can't find anything or anyone interesting other than Go; tell me about how his money makes him happy, and how it makes him miserable. Tell me especially about his relationship with Touya Meijin: how did he come to be a disciple? How did he come to challenge or accept or dote on or loathe Akira? How did he come to think that shoving Shindou up against a wall is a sane thing to do?
On the funnier/lighter side, tell me about how Ogata thinks about Go players in general, but Kuwabara especially. Tell me about his feels re: the different titles - but especially Honinbou and Meijin.
Ogata aside, I'll take Touya/Shindou arguing their life away, whether in a pairing or not, any time of day. I'd love to see Shindou's moments of hilarious brilliance, but also his moments of introspection/maturity surrounding Sai/sai/what he has to do to never spill the beans about S/sai. I want to see Touya as more than someone with horrible choices in sweaters.
On the flip side, speaking more generally, I'd highly enjoy someone coming in at an angle re: the use of Japanese in Go. Obviously, this is rather left-field and don't feel obliged at all to care about this if you don't have any familiarity with the language, but let's go talking about makemashita versus arimasen and what those things mean. I would fly over the moon if someone snuck in (or blatantly landed) a reference to Kawabata's Master of Go, or any other form of classical literature (go cracky on that if you'd like).
Sai backstory = also awesome. Honinbou Shuusaku doing battle with all the other historical Go players of his era; the history behind the different titles (feel free to stalk my tumblr, also karanguni, for a bunch of history posts on this topic).
Junjou Romantica
Oh, my Junjou feels, let me tell you about them. First of all, I enjoy the fact that the anime is very problematic. Take a moment to reflect on how Akihiko's behaviour is straight-up creepy/stalkerish/overly dominant, or how Misaki's idea of dealing is outright denial or self-abuse or just straight up getting the hell out of dodge. While I had a lot of moments of "oh my god, that's not okay unless you step back and accept the fact that only good things are going to happen in this anime because bad things aren't allowed to happen tra la la," I've always had this nagging feeling that there's a certain awareness of these problems that floats around. Akihiko clearly freaks out mid-series about his treatment of Misaki; he tries to mend it, fails sort-of-kind-of, and then reverts in a lot of ways. Misaki, too, realises that he has no few problems in his own treatment of Akihiko, and that there's only so much default-to-the-passive that he can do before things don't add up. These moments of self-revelation are pretty brief in the anime, but go wild with them if you're writing this prompt.
Also, Kamijou-Akihiko. I have so much adoration for them that you could write me something utterly banal about their early friendship and I'd probably still rub all over it. That said, I'd love to see something more than Kamijou yelling at Akihiko/Akihiko being mysterious at Kamijou in their adult lives: I want to know if Akihiko just sits around and has civil conversations with Kamijou sometimes. Or if/how/when Kamijou got over his feelings for Akihiko while dealing with the fact that Akihiko's still a very dear friend.
Bonus prize: TAKAHIRO, NOT ACTUALLY AS OBLIVIOUS AS YOU'D THINK.
SUPER BONUS PRIZE: Kamijou and Takahiro fight Akihiko for good.
Final Fantasy XII
This is a fandom I wish I could have written well for, but unfortunately can't do justice to. It's been a while since I looked at the canon of it, but man do I have a lot of feelings about Arcadia. Tell me about empires!!! Tell me about imperialism!!!! Tell me about science and industry going astray!!!!!!!! Tell me about why Gideon Emery has such an amazing accent how Balthier hasn't thrown his posh-as-knobs accent down the drain in his endeavour to be a sky pirate!!!!! Tell me how he's actually not very good at sky piracy!
Tell me about how Cid raised Balthier pre-nethicite. Tell me about how the Judges aren't the worst people/institution in the world. Tell me about the architecture of Arcadia. Tell me about its foreign relations, especially across economic lines.
