The finger tip of her index finger was stuck deep in the river, the water flowing around it. Maki stared at her reflection, seeing changes, yet not recognising them. Everything was changing. She no longer felt safe, and there was a constant dash of cautiousness in her eyes. She could even see that in her reflection, and it was that that made her afraid the most. That, as things changed around her, she was changing with them.
Pulling her hand to her chest, she caressed the wet finger to her chest, then closed her eyes. She didn't want to see her reflection, because it scared her. Taking deep breaths, she started to concentrate. She might as well try her power out if she were to simply sit here.
Morimoto-san has told her as much - that she had power, but what he was teaching her wasn't using her power to the limit. In fact, what he taught her was only a hint of her power. Maki didn't really understand, though, because the session yesterday had exhausted her greatly. Concentrating, Maki slowly started to push her shield out; thicken her shield so that it would be useful against even stronger attacks.
The faint glow of red started to surround her body, and the satisfaction that it didn't exhaust her as much as yesterday made her smile.
