Since
preparing the chilies, the most exciting events have been Mile High Con on the weekend, and eating the chili on Tuesday.
Mile High Con was fun, but very laid back this year. Mike supposes
Worldcon stole MHC's thunder this year, since it was in
Denver.
I still had a great time and met high school teacher and writer,
JimVanPelt and others, got some good tips on writing, and managed to spend only $20 on merchandise.
I had a job interview last Friday; I thought it went well enough, but have not heard back from them since. The headhunter called me on Tuesday but my phone cut out before he could finish our conversation, so he left a message asking me to call him back. Wednesday (today) I called him back and found the other part of the conversation was a longer version of "We haven't heard back from them yet, and last time they hired through us it was really quick, so you probably didn't get the job." The recruiter likes to talk in circles and say the same thing different ways.
Tuesday started out kinda "meh" at work, then got a lot better after work. We all went to Mike's place for gaming and green chili. Mike had been up since 6AM that day cooking, boiling down the chicken bones and what not for stock. There ended up being 3-5 gallons of delicious chili.
Mike was unable to focus on the game, so we didn't get much of that done, but dinner was awesome. Green chili and chicken over beef and bean burritos. So very delicious. After dinner we watched Blues Brothers, then Mike and I canned the rest of the chili. That was a fun process, Bell jars and lids and boiling water. I got two 3 cup jars to take home out of the 14 full jars. And now I know how to can things to save them! Survival skill increased!
