After my
last post, I have done the following:
- gotten my Colorado license
- registered to vote in Colorado
- gone to a local anime convention
- come down with Con Plague
- set up Wells Fargo checking and savings accounts
When the Colorado DMV gave me my temporary license, they said it would take up to a month to get my laminated one. It arrived a couple days ago, about a week after I got the temporary one. The DMV wasn't too bad. I waited for about three hours before starting the 15 minute process of getting my license and registering to vote.
Nan Desu Kan, Denver's annual anime convention, was fun. I'll post pictures soon, probably. The con-plague that followed was less fun. It's had Mike out of commission since Wednesday afternoon, and it's had my head full of goo since Tuesday morning. Seems to have mostly run its course now though.
I went to start my car to go to work on Monday morning and found my battery had died, presumably because I left the GPS plugged in over the weekend. I figured it would have stopped drawing power when its battery was charged, but apparently not. Got a jump from Erik and made it to work.
I got another jump when I left work and took the scenic route home. Instead of the ~15 minute direct route, I drove around for an hour, going back to the neighborhood I grew up in (there's an RV parked next to my old house now, and the neighbors on the corner whose Dalmatians tended to get out have expanded their back yard fence so it comes about halfway to the street now. Strange.) and I drove along 32nd Ave taking the winding road in to Golden, past the Coors Brewery (didn't realize I'd missed the smell of hops and barley...) and past the house my uncle lived in (there's a trampoline where the evergreen tree in the front yard used to be) before finally heading home. Battery's been fine since, and when I was at work I remembered the battery charger I've carried with me since I left CO that'll charge a car battery off household AC.
I'm still very slowly unpacking my boxes. Only a few left now.
