Today was a one-off StarWars d6 game with
phasmaphobic and crew at a local game store. The last few times I've been in his one-off games, my rolls have been completely ineffectual. In the first game, I was the doctor and only managed to heal someone once, just barely, with the skill bonuses implicit with a first aid kit. My combat rolls all sucked and I was very nearly the first party member killed... by three rabid squirrels.
In that group, I've earned the nickname "Doctor Useless."
My character tonight was a unnamed Rodian gunner who had good skills with blasters, ship-board weapons, etc. The first few rolls didn't go so great, but then I managed to kill a Stormtrooper with my bare hands. The was eventually able to infiltrate a pirate outpost on the planet, currently commandeered by Imperial troops for prisoner transport. Not only did we set the rebels free (our group was independent of the Rebel/Imperial conflict; we were more or less mercenaries) but we laid waste to the camp in our get away. Our pilot, with help from a Stormtrooper friend we convinced to leave the Imperial Army, stole an imperial shuttle and started blasting troopers on the ground. In the confusion, the rest of us stole a pirate ship (our own ship having been stolen by pirates at the outset of the adventure). I dropped in to the gunner's chair and joined in blasting the ground troops. Much fun was had by all.
After the game, I came home to get my notebook and, over dinner at Applebee's, nearly finished Brothers in Bits. I'll get back to writing that in a bit, I wanted to get today's post out first. :)
Special note to
alarin612: the electronic part of World of Heroes got a whole lot more epic/complicated. ;)
Apparently weekends, despite having copious free time, are not good for blogging interesting things. I'll make up for it tomorrow night. (Haven't I been saying that for a few days?)
