Fighting with Active Directory again
Will I never be done with Active Directory?
Today it's been trying to configure Samba on the new linux file server so logins will be transparent (or at least as transparent as they are to other network shares). Following a couple of guids, I've got everything working, the samba server joined to the domain, but nsswitch / winbind isn't syncing /etc/passwd and /etc/groups to Active Directory users and groups.
Seriously. Every part of the walk through goes as it should except the part where I run
getent passwd
It's supposed to show users like DOMAIN+username but I only see the local users. Rawr!
Also, samba's a bitch to set up. Even with Swat / webmin.
There's been a car alarm going off intermittently somewhere near by for the last hour. Joy ...
At least work wasn't too bad today.
