So good to me.

Well ... for some values of "good" I suppose ...

Woke up feeling pretty good. The alarm went off close enough to a period of half-waking that I was able to get myself out of bed without trouble.

Packed up the mismatched Ghillies and dropped them off at a UPS store in Camas on the way to work.

Got in to work around 9AM to find that Darrel1 had brought in doughnuts. Score!

After a little while, I got a text message from alarin612 complimenting me on a chunk of story I had sent him. It deals with a climactic event in the Alternia world and it's very much a confidence booster to know he thinks I'm doing well with it. :)

We didn't play Monopoly at lunch, instead playing Uno. Of the four hands played, I won one and am in second place. It was generally agreed that the new cards aren't as good as the old ones, especially the special cards. It should be noted that the cards have no words on them. "Draw Two" is simply "+2" "Reverse" is two arrows pointing in opposite directions, etc. Other than that, the cards in the "New, English" column are accurate.

The rest of the day has passed more or less uneventfully.

If I were to take a road trip starting Dec 22 and heading South through California en route to Arizona, then West through Albuquerque, NM and North to Denver, then probably North to Cheyenne, WY and West through Northern Utah, Southern Idaho and Eastern Oregon before returning to Portland, would anyone near-that route be interested in getting together for lunch or coffee or something?

Probable route would be I-5 South to I-40 East to I-25 North to I-80/84 West, though I wouldn't be opposed to taking I-70/US6 West from Denver to hit 15 South of SLC and head North to 84. The only people that jump to mind being near-ish that route and possibly interested in meeting are (in rough order) noip (if he's not already up in Washington with his family), mayamaia, lord_kage, ass_, cs_riina and Rojzik, aside from family in Arizona and Denvery friends...

and a random, final thought: I keep wanting to learn Irish/Celtic folk songs and/or shaggy dog stories, thinking these would come in handy next time I go to a Ren Faire. I also think it would be neat to learn Gaelic, but recognize that, like Chinese, I probably won't put forth the effort required. To my credit though, I learned to speak Chinese well enough. Just didn't learn the characters at all, so I can't read it very well.

1 I think that's his website, but I'm not certain. There's enough coincidences for me to be reasonably sure it's him though.
