Best Weekend Ever Part 2 - wherein it is explained how I came to have lunch withe The Bruce Campbell
On the Thursday prior, as Neon and I are driving up to Boulder for class, Alarin calls me and says "Hey, my dad got two tickets to have lunch with Bruce Campbell on Monday and I wanted to invite you ... " "Hell yeah!" I said. Okay, maybe not exactly that ...
Turns out Bruce is on a 44 city book tour, promoting his new book Make Love the Bruce Campbell Way, and has a new DVD / TV Movie coming out called "Man with the Screaming Brain" and the DVD company said to themselves "Hey, Bruce is already on this tour ... why don't we piggy back some publicity on it?" so they got theaters in these 44 cities to screen the movie. I'm unclear whether it was the book publishers or the DVD publishers or another third party that set up the luncheon.
That's pretty much the story ... I took the day off from school and drove into Denver with Alarin. Brought my copy of Bubba Ho-tep to be signed, we went to the place "The Denver Press Club, I think ... ) paid our $20 at the door and had lunch with Bruce Campbell and 20-30 other people. Not all at the same table, of course. When he was done eating, Bruce answered questions posed by the MC and a few from the audience, then invited people up for signatures, pictures, etc.
I have now shaken hands with, in no particular order, -
