Sauron is the new Venkman
I said that to Matthew just now, in IM, and couldn't resist blogging it...
Backstory:
Venkman was a computer at Dream Team waaaay back about a thousand years ago in 2002 when I started with them. The server was a backup domain controller, or maybe the primary domain controller, I forget which, but it was a DC and it crashed. We had to rebuild it and because it was uncleanly demoted it fouled up Active Directory. Running the ntdsutil metadatacleanup didn't work, so we were stuck with the erroneous entry on every domain controller in the domain, and couldn't ever join another computer called Venkman.
Tonight, I rebuilt Sauron, the primary domain controller at GeekGene. I forgot to demote it first ... You can tell where this is headed, can't you?
