In no particular order, based on how they're listed above ...
Poker Tourney -
We had a pretty good turn out for the game. 12 people were there at the start, and three showed up late. Unless I'm wrong, the only other LJer was aaronseeker who amused other players with his card tricks between hands, and haoma82, of course, but he lives here, so of course he's in. At the final table was Rojzik, Fegude, Karak, Drobe, Tim (Rojzik's friend from Mesa State) and Rojzik's brother Nick.

I forget the order of going out, but it was down to Rojzik, his brother and me. Rojzik couldn't get a hand to beat me, and soon went out. After heated battles, Nick and I were even in chip count when he went all in. I called with a King, Eight off-suit. Unfortunately, Nick had a King, Jack, or something similar... a higher kicker, to be sure. So I ended up with second place in the tourney. Not bad for my first money game.

Also, haoma82 played in his bathrobe, which earned him the nickname of "Dent" for the night ... from me anyway. Rojzik and Drobe decided his new nickname will be "CC" because it is both his initials and the name of the cat.

Clerk and Best Buy -
I went to Best Buy earlier today (Saturday. Shutup, I haven't been to sleep yet. It's still conceptually Saturday) to see if they had some white ethernet cable so I could wire Geek Gene today before the tourney. They didn't, and I ended up browsing the DVDs anyway ... Picked up Aqua Teen Hunger Force Vol III, Home Movies Vol I and An American Werewolf in London. I don't care what you say. London is the better of the two.

Anyway, I was wearing my +3 Cotton Shirt of Networking under my jacket. The clerk who checked me out saw the front ("SYN") and responded with "ACK" I love wearing shirts like this into BestBuy. :)

Hanging out with O -
While getting things moved into Geek Gene last night, O called me up and asked if I wanted to hang out and watch a movie with them. I said sure, assuming I'm finished moving before 3AM ... Ended up getting to her place around 0030 - 0100. Somewhere around there.. We chatted with her room mate and a couple of her friends for a while, then the friends left and the room mate when to sleep, so we watched A Fish Called Wanda, which I hadn't seen before. Good movie. But that's beside the point. I kept her up way too late last night, since she had to be at work at 0900 ... I left her house around 0400 ...

She and her room mate were two of the people that showed up late to the game. The third being oddharmonic's ex. While we played, the two girls alternately watched and played the Sponge Bob XBox game Drobe has. I felt bad that they had little to do, and at one point commented "Obviously poker means more to me than a girlfriend ... " which didn't get a reaction out of O ... I had reason to be playing poker though. I was at the final table with only two opponents, so I was guaranteed to at least break even ($5 buy-in, $5 third place prize) ... Afterward, haoma82, O, her room mate and I went to Old Chicago for drinks / food. Haoma was celebrating having nothing to do tomorrow, Sunday, since his classes are done and Apple Jack Liquors is closed on Sundays *mutters about Colorado being a "blue" state* Since they had to get back to Boulder earlier rather than later, we took separate cars. We chatted a bunch and generally had a good time.

Geek Gene Move -
Most of Friday was taken up with moving stuff from Dream Team's office in Denver to Geek Gene in Arthur's basement in Lakewood. In this task, we were successful. I always say it's not really a move day unless I'm bleeding, and true to form, I managed to gouge a bit of skin off of my left thumb with my right thumb nail. I don't remember how it happened now, but it bled pretty good for a while ... I was wearing my "I'm Blogging This" shirt and Xiren said something about that ... I forget if he called me a liar for not blogging, or if he asked if I was blogging ... I think the former, because I remeber Arthur's reaction being along the lines of "I know more about [Karak] from what my housemate [aaronseeker] tells me after reading his blog than [Karak] has told me himself."

I like the new space. No flourescent lights ... no big windows that let untold amounts of sunlight in ... nice soft carpetting, home cooking from moon_orchid (in theory). Plus, half the commute, and no stupid parking passes to worry about.

other bits
After the tournament, we sat down for another game of poker, just points, no moeny involved, and I told Aaron that I misquoted They last night. I quoted "Every jungle, pile and person has a thinking part that wonders what the part that isn't thinking isn't thinking of" when the actual line is "Every jumbled pile of person has a thinking part
that wonders what the part that isn't thinking isn't thinking of" I was mostly right ... I couln't remember the name of the song. Robert, oddharmonic's ex, said "Give me the line, I'll tell you the song" so I said it, and responded "Scarecrow" which, it took me until just now, to realize is wrong. The title is "Where Your Eyes Don't Go" and is currently running through my head...

Remind me to speak at length at some point about The Johns as philosophers / prophets...
