Hand Written Entry #4, Old Chicago Entry #3

First thing's first. Starbucks Coffee sign broke in a humorour way. Picture in a later entry.

3/2/4 2148 After doing virtually nothing at work today, I came home after switing by King Soopers (when I noticed the StarBucks sign) to get dinner. Get home, and fire up the latop to chat while I eat. I had to give it a good hard technical tap to get it to boot ... My drink (half gallon of chocolate milk) was sitting on the same table as the laptop, and when I lifted it to take a drink, I must have bumped the table or something 'cause the laptop died. Tired unsuccessfully to boot it again, gave up and moved to the desktop in the other room.

Everything was going fine on Jet until I tried to watch some Rocky & Bullwinkle to calm my mind. Apparently, in fiddling with the graphics drivers, InterVideo WinDVD broke. It would start, but not play the disc, and when I closed it, everything went insane, eventually crashing the computer.

At this point, I was seriously considering punching through a nearby 2x4. Fortunatley, something in me recognized it as a support beam for the stairs, and I didn't take a swing at it.

I did, however, walk angrily out of the house. I did remember to grab my camera while I was gathering wallet and stuff, and made a detour by the StarBucks on my way to Old Chicago. While walking, I noticed the beat of my gate seemed familiar. Right about then I noticed it fit in time with Women and Men, which was running through my head.

I wanted very much to just throw something, but I didn't have anything that met two important criteria: a)it needed a fair bit of mass, and b)it needed to be something I didn't care about damaging or retrieving. So I walked angrily onward to Old Chicago.

Two additional events have contributed to my anger this evening. Firstly, Megan's parking, and to a lesser extent, Megan herself. She seems unwilling or unable to confine her parking to the North side of the driveway. I parked where she does for years, that spot being between my sister's car at the end of the drive way, and another car at the head of the drive way. I never had any difficulty parking there, and staying within six inches of the grass, leaving a foot or two between my vehicle and the center line. I did this with a 1980 plymouth Voyager minivan, not exactly known for its manuverability.
Last night, she was on the center line, and tonight she was over slightly. I very nearly took her passenger mirror clean off.
It looks like she drives directly into her spot from the road, not having to park around my sister, but she does this in a very, very, very crooked way. Her rear bumper was about six inches from the grass, wich is fine, but her front bumper had at least THREE & A HALF FUCKING FEET between it and the grass.
Also, she has yet to pay February rent ...

The second event is somewhat minor. I got here at 2148 and the hostesses in the front had gone home, leaving a sign saying "Please seat yourself" so I picked a two person booth near the door. Fifteen minutes later, without having been served, I moved to a four person booth behind a couple who had been seated after I came in, and already had their food ... Ten minutes later, the server finally takes my drink order ... I'll give him a low tip. Guy seems nice enough.

Now I'm wishing I had brought Count Zero with me as well as the /dev/journal. I finished Mostly Harmless at work today. Damned Vogons.

Interesting. Old Chicago changed their menu style again... it's more "classy" now... third time I've noticed a change in menu style (as opposed to content) since I worked across the hall from them.

Generally, in life, I want the end result but I don't want to have had to do the work to get the end result. No where is this more evident than in the domain of relationships / romance. I want a girl/woman to hold and cuddle while watching TV or sleeping and what not, but I don't want to have to take the time to find / date her ... I think that's why I like internet relationships. Aside from me being more eloquent and verbose in a text medium, online relationships seem to develop faster, in my experience anyway. Hell, I've had sex all of three times in real life, and have "made out" with as many girls/women (one I'd call a girl, the other two I respect too much to call them anything but women). But online, in cyberspace, I'vd had cybersex at least two dozen times, and have "kissed" at least as many girls.

What is it about the text medium that lets me express my inner "player"? Why, in the Sims, can my avatar be married, with a mistress and a girlfriend, when I'm just being myself? Yet in real life, I'm a dateless computer geek ...

I have enered Happy Drunk mode now.. It was said in the CCNA class yesterday that there are three types of drunks:
  1. Happy Drunks
  2. Angry/Mean Drunks
  3. Sleepy Drunks
Most people I've seen drunk have either been Happy or Sleepy drunks. I think ass_ is a Happy Sleepy drunk ;) and oddharmonic is definately a sleepy drunk.

Myself, I am definately a happy drunk. This is my purpose in drinking tonight, whether I realized it or not. I drank to drown the anger, and I have succeeded.

Drink of choice tonight - 25 oz mugs of Fat Tire draught. I love New Belgium. :)

I have a feeling I'll be blogging this from work or class tomorrow [ed: turns out I'm blogging from work.] Anticipating going to bed when I get home...

Happy Drunk and a bit numb. Food ish here. [ed: yes, I wrote "ish" ...]

I've had an idea in my head all day for a game: make d20 modern characters for Da Guys, play a d20 modern game set in and around 3nd & Youngfield, Wheatridge, CO.

Quote from three years ago from Brendan, General Manager of this Old Chicago at the time. "You love the regulars, but you hate to see 'em in here every day ..."
I won't become like that. I refuse to become a guy who goes to the bar everyday after work.

"Everything's shiny, cap'n. A-okay.." - Kaylee, FireFly episode 1 "Serenity"

2305 - Okay, I'm nice. 15% tip. He kept my beer full ;)
[unknown word, probably an expletive] -- that means math...
