FireFly - So good...

Feb 26, 2004 12:11

Last night, between leaving class and going to the colo, I wandered the Best Buy DVD section for a half hour ...

~$120 later, I have six more DVDs.
  • FireFly - Complete Series (4 disc)
  • Monty Python's Meaning of Life
  • Life of Brian
  • The Big Lebowski
  • Princess Mononoke
  • Cowboy Bebop: Knocking on Heaven's Door
Haoma has the last two, but they are most often in Evergreen ... the other night I wanted to watch Mononoke and had to settle for Spirited Away ... ;)

When buying FireFly I kept telling myself "I hope blurrymystr, Hob and everyone else are right ... I don't want to have wasted $41 on a series that sucks ..." I caught bits of an episode or two, I didn't think it sucked, but knew there was something else I wanted to watch on ...

Anyway, I started FireFly while I ate dinner around 2300 and kept watching until the pilot episode was finished, well after my dinner was finished. I brought everything down stairs and watched the rest of the first disc while unwrapping the other DVDs and chatting with people. I went to bed at 0330 not because I was tired, but because I knew I should. I completely lost track of time while watching FireFly. I'm sorry I missed it while it was on the air, but it is really a very good show. I think Otto speaks for us all here ...

Hopefully Dell will send me another box with the frelling airbill inside soon so I can get my laptop fixed ... Currently, it's setup almost as a desktop next to my bed. It sits on a table, with mouse and keyboard attached. It works fine as long as I don't bump it, or move it in any way, really, which kinda defeats the purpose of a laptop, doesn't it? If I'm careful, I can remove a disc from the drive without it dying, but I have yet to put a disc in without killing it. That's all well and good so long as I only want to watch one disc ...

Not going to bring it in to work anymore until it's fixed. At work, It sits on a keyboard box (the box a keyboard came in with a server) which rests in a drawer of my desk. The drawer having been extended. This works well enough so long as my left elbow doesn't bump the box, which I did three times yesterday.

Everything important is off of it. Of course, I thought that was true two days ago, until yesterday I remembered the pdf of my tickets for Rollins on the 9th only existed on the laptop. Printed those off and now everything important is off the laptop.

Mmm ... Rollins ...

Head hurts slightly ... must drink more Coke to combat the slight lack of sleep last night.

Heh. After watching four hours of FireFly last night, immediately before going to bed, when the cat woke me up at 0730 my first thought was "Remind me again why we haven't thrown him out the airlock..." I think it was part of a dream, but I'm uncertain. I do know that it was my voice that said it, but in my head I saw Jayne ... I don't even think he said it in the episodes I watched ... it's probably from another series / movie entirely. I just thought it was funny that was my reaction to the cat crying for food.
