Another leg of brutal-smacking gig brought to us by Death March Productions. Literally! Someone got smacked right on the face!
Death March as most of us know is infamously known and associated with Bataan. Same venue as the last time, this sixth (if I'm not mistaken) leg was held in Gloria's Resto Bar in Dinalupihan Bataan. This time, more bands from Manila were invited to take part in this event.
Good thing! This event is sponsored by several establishments such as sinski, avon, etc. I can't name the full roster but they pretty much have a number of sponsors. Though less than that of last March's, still, it's a good thing that they get to have sponsors. Gig sponsorship is a rarety now a days.
As usual, I was tagged along by
Hampaslupa to Bataan for this event. Wind. Dust. Smoke. After a couple or three hours ride, around 10PMish, we got there. Thanks to the ever so reliable jeep hired by End of Man. Unlike last time, the number of attendees were quite fewer and I'm pretty much sure the gig had just started. Though it seems that people were fewer, what I love most with the crowd from Bataan is that they know how to show the bands real hardcore.
I wasn't paying much attention to the bands playing for several personal reasons that of which I blogged elsewhere.. I just kind of noticed some. 11th plague had a tight set. I started seeing the crowd do their moshing in front. It was already 12AM when Serpent Slave got to play their set. This band really reminds me of Lamb of God everytime. DFTW were also there to play. I know they're good. I know people love them & I know that they're rightful of the recognition but it kinda ticks me off that they had to sound check every other song. Almost all their songs were like 10 or so minutes long. They could've considered that some bands were from elsewhere, went there to play at a good slot and will have to drive all the way back to Manila after the event. While waiting in vain. I took photos. Finally, at 2AM, End of Man finally had their set. Woohoo!
It's a first time for me to see their new vocalist sing. He looked a lot like that of 6Cycle Mind's vocalist though. In the middle of the Head Banging, a commotion happened. Apparently, a kid got smacked right in the face outside and went running in to seek refuge. He kept telling us that he's scared to go out coz someone hit him. His eyes were all swollen, hands on his face, and was almost about to cry. All the while we thought Koi was involved. Good thing he's not. After a little pause, the gig went on.
They were followed in by
Legion. Some might say they're "pogi metal" for obvious reasons but don't get it all wrong. This band gives tight metal. Now that AC's doing the vocals. Try to visit their link & have a taste of Legion.
Alas! It's
Hampaslupa. Playing at Quarter to 4AM. They played their infamous Ahas & Luwalhati plus some cover songs from Hatebreed. After their set, we planned to go to the beach again. Ai of Extremity Fist went with us and became our sort of tour guide. Half-way to Olongapo, our driver had a bitch fit. We had to go back to Bataan. To make the long story short, we dropped Ai in Bataan, went home and drank all the booze on the road back to Manila.
