Today was a really long day. Actually, it was the time between about 1:30 to 4:15 that was long, since that was the time I had to be in the office. Which I hate, just so you know. Details about that will probably come at a later date when my boss has done something else to piss me off.
Anyway, I went to Isato JHS today, a school with a whopping 16 students out in the mountains about 30 minutes away. I go there usually every other Tuesday. This is the only junior high that I have to plan lessons for; the teachers at my other schools make their own plans.
Since I was too lazy to plan the lessons last night, I told myself I'd wake up early and make them this morning. Of course, when morning rolled around, I just laid in bed and tried to think of an activity I could do for all three classes that required as little preparation on my part as necessary. Nice.
I ended up making them draw pictures of what they did over winter break and writing sentences that described the pictures. I made a worksheet in Word in about 2 minutes, and the rest was all them. And it worked out great, since kids usually like drawing and drawing takes time and I made them use English.
The 2nens finished early (mainly because Yuuta refused to draw ANYTHING or write sentences--though he did participate in hangman, but that's only calling out a letter--but he's kind of adorable, so I can forgive him for not participating ever), so I wrote some animal names on sheets of paper and taped them to their backs and they had to get their classmates to describe the animal in English. Yuuta was a fish, which was so easy since his dad runs a fishing shop, and how many animals live in the ocean and swim?, but he still didn't want to answer. I really wonder when my patience will run out with him.
After I got back, there was an interminable stretch at the office. I read a book, but I still wanted to jump out the window out of sheer boredom. And then the teacher at Kinomoto ES came by so we could talk about the lesson tomorrow. I'm doing my self-intro since I've never been to that school, which is a PowerPoint, but she said I can't use that, so now I have to make some posters. I wasn't looking forward to going there anyway, since those kids are a bunch of hellions, but now I really don't want to go.
At least I have Ido KG on Thursday, and they're adorable. God, I love kindergarten so much.
