the land before myspace ...

In a world of online psuedo friendships, based off of tagged photos on facebook or skank shots on myspace, I sometimes like to reflect on a time less advanced. A time when AIM was new and three way calling was "awesome."

Do you remember that? Three way calling? Did anyone ever stealth call someone? You know, where you would get on the phone with one person and then have them call another person while you lurked silently behind the reciever, waiting to hear a juicy bit of gossip about yourself.

I remember I had Caroline Hu do that once. We would talk on the phone almost every night, back in 8th grade. At one point, I was crushing on Mark Bonaventura HARD CORE and so Caroline offered to three way him. So I remember hiding in my room, covering the phone with my hand and breathing quietly while Caroline picked Mark's brain about life and love. Unfortunatley, I did not make it into his topic of conversation and my crush was crushed. How middle school.

But sometimes, I like to think about what life would be like without AIM. Or text messaging. Or Facebook photos. I would feel Amish.

AMISH.

Oh and Happy (belated) Birthday, Dan Ping and Matt VanNortwick. Yay for exes birthed in the month of January.
