I got a response!

Jim Saxton get's points for being the very first and fastest to respond to my letter! The response means he loses all of them again.

"I have taken the liberty of forwarding your letter to the congressman who represents your district, the Honerable John Olver. It is custom and a courtesy of the US House of Representatives to afford each Representative the opportunity to aid his constituents. I am certain that Congressman Olver will assist you in every way possible."

If Olver was on any of the pertinent committees, that might be worthwhile. He isn't, so he won't be able to do anything even if he wants to. That's why the letters were sent to specific committee members. On the other hand, this could be read to mean the average citizen's concerns will be actively discarded if their specific representative isn't on the appropriate committee. Talk about disenfranchisement! It could also be read as a nicely put 'shame on you for bad etiquette' message. Hopefully that's not what they meant, even if it is the effective result.
