Poetic License

I've been thinking a lot about the poetic lyricism of language. Dunkelza brought up "kenning" the other day, a way to make something fit into your rhythm/meter by phrasing something in descriptive language. A lot of times this is something readily identifiable - "star-spangled banner" rather than saying "flag." I've been thinking about it off and on trying to come up with some turns of phrase, and coming up empty.

I thought I'd challenge folks to come up with their own phrases and let others guess what they mean. Maybe we could all have some fun with this!
