Greetings, salutations, and gratulconations!
Another semester has started, but before I am swamped entirely I wanted to update this blog o' mine. This past week has been a blur, simply a blur.
Ian came and stayed with my family for three days. We had a marvelous time, and I think he managed to survive. *grins* We all went skiing at Alyeska on Saturday, and it was an experience to remember.
This was my first time downhilling, but fortunately Ian proved a very capable teacher. After four runs, I was starting to get the hang of things (although my legs were protesting otherwise), and I decided to do one final run before calling it a day. Of course, it would be on the last run that I get hurt....
Scarcely a hundred feet from where we left the ski lift, the route I favored had a steep hill that flattened out after a drop of about 12 feet. I'd fallen all but one time, and was determined this would be different. Well, it was. I made it down the hill just fine, but was getting so snow-blind that I missed the little hill off to the side at the bottom and "caught air" as the expression goes. I landed on my feet, and did a falling-forward-while-twisting-180-degrees thing, so I ended up staring up at the sky just before my head hit the ground. And bounced. Hard.
When my skid finally stopped, the first thing I noticed was that my hat had fallen off. The second, was that I could see it, but it was dancing about and wouldn't stay still. When I finally was able to sit up, the third thing I noticed was that I fell slightly like emptying the contents of my stomach.
I made it down the hill under my own power (my brothers and Ian wanted me to be sledded down in the Rescue sled), with Ian watching me carefully the entire way. The poor guy was so worried. *sighs* Anyhow, the verdict was that I had a minor concussion, and a bad case of whiplash. It's been fun since then, let me tell you!
I am back at school now, and trying to figure out just how I am going to be in two places simultaneously --I have a class at the same time as the class I am a TA in. Argh.
Oh, I have to finish unpacking now, but I'll try and write again soon. God bless!
