2nd update of 2010 reading list

Jun 30, 2010 20:18

I haven't posted about my 2010 reading since February, so it's about time to update!  I've been reading pretty much non-stop this year.  If all I have time to read is a page or two, then that's what I've done.  The things that I've been reading have been varied.  I've read fluffy fiction stuff and award winning literature.
1. Half-Assed: A Weight-Loss Memoir by Jennette Fulda
2. Believe It, Be It: How Being the Biggest Loser Won Me Back My Life by Ali Vincent
3. The Penelopiad: The Myth of Penelope and Odysseus by Margaret Atwood
4. The Wal-Mart Effect: How the World's Most Powerful Company Really Works--and How It's Transforming the American Economy by Charles Fishman
5. The Runner's Rule Book: Everything a Runner Needs to Know--And Then Some by Mark Remy
6. The Story of Edgar Sawtelle: A Novel by David Wroblewsky

7. Once a Runner: A Novel by John L. Parker
8. One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest by Ken Kesey
9. The Barcode Tattoo by Suzanne Weyn
10. The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows
11. The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros
12. The Color Purple by Alice Walker
13. Year of the Hangman by Gary L. Blackwood
14. Manic: A Memoir by Terri Cheney
15. Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson
16. The Amazing Adventures of Dietgirl by Shauna Reid
17. Dead in the Family (Sookie Stackhouse Series #10) by Charlaine Harris
18. The Edible Woman by Margaret Atwood
19. The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner: An Eclipse Novella by Stephenie Meyer

I'm reading The Shadow of the Wind right now, and I'm part of the way through Night, but I misplaced my book so I'm not sure when I'll be able to finish it! I hate losing things and it has one of my favorite bookmarks in it too. *pouts*  I have a whole stack of books to be read.  Part of me wants to read all of my "to-read" books before buying anymore, but I don't think this year is the year I'll do that.  That would take some discipline. lol

As always, I'm perfectly willing to discuss anything I've read, but I keep my reviews on Goodreads.com. You can click on the widget to poke around.  I don't post my reviews here because that would be a LONG post!
my 2010 shelf:

And one last thing, I'm a fan ofLookshelves (a website that shows people's book shelves), so I thought I'd do a Lookshelves thing here!  And I encourage you to comment with a pic of your shelves because I'm nosy it would be fun!
I have other shelves to post another time, these are just the ones in the master bedroom that I keep most of my "to-read" books and the ones I've been reading lately.
.

This is the bottom shelf. I'm mostly an "order them by size" person which surprises some but I like the orderliness of it.
And because it's hard to read the titles in this one shot, two close-ups...

And this next one is the middle shelf. I put my running books here and my Harry Potter books.  The "M" is for Montoya, by the way.
.

And this last shelf is my "to-read" shelf.  The books on the far right side have been read (and the DVDs watched). I had to balance on a chair (and risk my life! lol) to get a decent pic of this shelf.
.

Happy reading!
