2009 reading list update

Aug 16, 2009 21:38

I last updated my 2009 reading list in July, but I read so much in the summer that I needed to make this post before school starts. The reading slows down considerably when I have stuff to grade. I read a lot this summer, but I'd feel better about making my goal if I'd read a few more.

1. The Tales of Beetle the Bard by J.K. Rowling
2. Dewey: The Small-Town Library Cat Who Changed the World by Vicki Myron
3. Princess Academy by Shannon Hale
4. The Sound and the Fury by William Faulkner
5. Born on a Blue Day: Inside the Extraordinary Mind of an Autistic Savant by Daniel Tammet
6. Fasting Girls: The History of Anorexia Nervosa by Joan Jacobs Brumberg
7. The Nonrunnner's Marathon Guide for Women: Get Off Your Butt and on With Your Training by Dawn Dais
8. What-the-Dickens: The Story of a Rogue Tooth Fairy by Gregory Maguire
9. We Wish to Inform You That Tomorrow We Will Be Killed with Our Families: Stories from Rwanda by Philip Gourevitch
10. Death Be Not Proud by John Gunther
11. Grendel by John Gardner
12. The Good Earth by Pearl S. Buck
13. Dead Until Dark (Sookie Stackhouse Series #1) by Charlaine Harris
14. Living Dead in Dallas (Sookie Stackhouse Series #2) by Charlaine Harris
15. Club Dead (Sookie Stackhouse Series #3) by Charlaine Harris
16. Dead to the World (Sookie Stackhouse Series #4) by Charlaine Harris
17. Dead as a Doornail (Sookie Stackhouse Series #5) by Charlaine Harris
18. Definitely Dead (Sookie Stackhouse Series #6) by Charlaine Harris
19. All Together Dead (Sookie Stackhouse Series #7) by Charlaine Harris
20. From Dead to Worse (Sookie Stackhouse Series #8) by Charlaine Harris
21. Dead and Gone (Sookie Stackhouse Series #9) by Charlaine Harris
22. Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers by Mary Roach
23. Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer

And for the next set of books I've read...
24. Interpreter of Maladies by Jhumpa Lahiri
25. Everything is Illuminated by Jonathan Safran Foer
26. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince by J.K. Rowling
27. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J.K. Rowling
28. Into Thin Air: A Personal Account of the Mt. Everest Disaster by Jon Krakauer
29. The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan
30. The Sea of Monsters by Rick Riordan
31. My Life on the Run: The Wit, Wisdom, and Insights of a Road Racing Icon by Bart Yasso
32. The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway
33. The Titan's Curse by Rick Riordan
34. The Battle of the Labyrinth by Rick Riordan

And right now I'm nearly done with The Last Olympian by Rick Riordan. As soon as I finish it I need to reread Lord of the Flies so that it's fresh in my mind for the beginning of school (I had the Pre-AP students read it for the summer), and I might reread Nothing But the Truth too, but I don't feel like I absolutely have to reread it. Beyond those titles, I have another running related book, The Crucible, and a few other titles from a book buying spree that are asking to be read. I feel like my goal of 50 is going to happen this year, but I have to keep plugging away at it!

If any of you are interested in my reviews of any of these titles or wondering what else I've been reading, check out my Goodreads account.
