What's Your Political Philosophy?
You scored as a Libertarian
Libertarians believe that you have the right to live your life as you wish, without the government interfering, as long as you don’t violate the rights of others. This translates into strong protections for privacy and property rights, and a weak to non-existent social safety net ( Read more... )

lol I don't understand that quiz! I'm not really supportive of a "non-existant social safety net." Heck, I don't think I'd be sitting here if it weren't for a few of those things. lol

I think it depends on what side of the bed I roll off from in the morning, huh? ;)

It's not about getting rid of charity, though. It's about getting rid of gov't mandated charity (welfare) which has a terrible record of admin costs v. actual dollars spent on recipients.

I'm guessing if welfare hadn't been around, you (or your parents or whomever) would have found another way to get by. I was a single mom, so I know how it gets tough. I also know that there are ways to get help that don't involve welfare.

Yup. Still 100% Libertarian.

I'll just have to agree to disagree on this one. I think I'm only "libertarian" when it comes to reproductive rights.

I would assume you're also not against gay marriage? Or gov't interference in parenting? Welfare is really a small part of the platform. Boiled down to its essence, Libertarianism is simply, "I can take care of me and mine, thank you."

Yeah, I'm all for gay marriages and telling anyone to jump off when it comes to my kids, but I think there is a use for welfare and just wish we could regulate it better. Does that make me a "libertarian-except..."? lol

LOL. Yes. Because my actual belief about welfare is that it's okay for people who need temporary help. I don't have beef with that (although I still think state-run welfare would be better than federally-run welfare).
