They're repealing Don't Ask Don't Tell? Cool! About time, too. But it seems that the main thing that worries people about repealing DADT is that they might have *gulp* to shower or actually interact with gay men and women. There was a hilarious letter in the LA Times that I can't find right now, but it basically came down to "I might have to share a dorm with a gay dude. Bad for unit cohesiveness, blah blah blah."

Duncan Hunter, a representative from California (ARRRGH) explains it all: "...it would frankly make everybody a little bit uneasy to be in these close situations, how you go into combat, you know, the shower situation, the bathroom situation, just, you know, very mundane details - things that we have men and women separated, you know, because we dont want to have that sexual distraction. That exists for the homosexual aspect of things, too."

(He has some interesting thoughts on hermaphrodites, too. WTF? http://www.queerty.com/rep-duncan-hunter-wants-to-keep-gays-from-serving-because-then-hermaphrodites-will-be-allowed-to-serve-20100203/#ixzz0eVKvMuyu)

Yeeeaah. I don't know how to break this to you, guys, but you're already sharing a shower with gay people. Dorms, too. Ponder that for a minute. Commence freakout in 5.. 4.. 3.. 2..
