Ok. All you people whinging about Proposition 8, if I get this right, half the electorate in California are evil, retarded, hicks who should die in a fire, go back to Saudi Arabia, and just get the hell off my Livejournal WHHHRRRRRRRRGGGBL....
Stop. Just.. STOP IT.
Think for a minute.
Last night, we came together as a nation to say that we have had it with partisanship. We're tired of both sides fighting, tired of petty bickering, tired of fear and division and everything that Bush/Cheney/Rove tried for the last 8 years to keep us afraid of each other. We are ready to start doing things differently, and we are starting now.
We showed last night that the partisanship that might have worked for Dubya has no place on the national level. But that level of douchebaggery has no place in California either.
Am I pissed off that 8 passed? Of course! But in the words of our President-elect Obama (hee!),
"The road ahead will be long. Our climb will be steep. We may not get there in one year or even in one term. But, America, I have never been more hopeful than I am tonight that we will get there.
I promise you, we as a people will get there."
I'm looking forward to voting for an amendment to repeal proposition 8, but I'm not willing to demonize every Californian that doesn't agree with me. It's time to get to work, people.
