California Healing Arts College,
shelbyg's alma mater, freakin' rocks.
I should back up.. my shoulders have been really stiff lately, and I'm tired of always feeling like I need to stretch when I'm sitting in front of the computer. Coleman tries, but between bad posture and work crap--I need professional help. Or at least semi-professional help.
But.. I don't have the time (or money) to spend a day at the spa, and I'm a little scared of going to a random salon and declaring that I want a massage.
Enter the CHAC.
CHAAAAAAC. Since it's a school, you know you won't get the happy ending special-- instead you are someone's practice back. Show up, tell them generally what hurts, and they'll do their thing for an hour. It's pretty no-frills, but it's clean, quiet, and you can't beat the price-- only $35. Sweet!
I got a nice guy who poked and prodded my shoulder for a while:
"Wow! This is really tight!"
"Yeah. Um. You can probably press harder."
He did a good job. The baseball-sized knot in my shoulder is now a smaller pile of knots and I can sit without feeling like I need to get up and stretch every 10 minutes. Neck is also less crunchy. (Crunchy granola: good! Crunchy snow: good! Crunchy neck: bad!)
Going back next week to see if he can pound out the rest of the knots.
