So today I had the complete misfortune of seeing someone on LJ whose avatar featured Calvin of Calvin & Hobbes urinating on the world "Q'Ran".
I'm sorry, but when the fuck did shit like that become okay? I don't care how many goddamned Islamic fundamentalist terrorists are running around out there - that kind of disrespect and the mindset that accompanies it is as abominable as that held by those selfsame fanatics. Crap like that is tantamount to setting a cross on fire and putting it up on a black family's lawn because you heard on the news that someone got mugged by a black person.
Or perhaps I'm mistaken - resorting to hate, prejudice, and blatant ignorance and stupidity makes you better than the people you're attempting to rail against? I missed the societal memo on that, yes?
