Mixed Emotions

Been in one of those situations where something bad will happen, but then something good will happen to counter it - and you're just left wondering how to feel.

Last night I noticed that Moxie (one of my chinchillas) had wet herself a little bit. This is odd for her, and in keeping a keen eye on her, I've noticed there is blood in her urine. I'm crossing my fingers this is something simple like a bladder infection, as opposed to anything more serious. Hopefully I can get in to see the vet soon.

On the more positive note, I may have found a home for Meeka (my other chinchilla). With the move to Vancouver happening this fall, I've been trying to find both of them homes.

One of my close friends from school said that her sister is interested in taking her. Jessie (her sister) is apparently wanting to take veterinary medicine, and is looking to be a caregiver as well. The inspiration that Jessie has is what makes this a lot more comfortable for me - as Meeka is a bit of a special case. Since the two chinchilla's aren't compatible, and they're sensitive animals to their surroundings - just living in the same house (not room) is enough for her to chew her fur. This happens from stress, and has been something I've been trying to fix for years.

Now I just have to cross my fingers that her parents accept the request from their daughter. I know what it's like, and if they do accept I know the whole family will love her just as much as Jessie. I'm very familiar with them all, so it's a relief.

Giving away pets is probably the second hardest thing in the world to do... Next to saying goodbye to them on their death beds :\
